FROM THE STUDIO

What's new

The sun came out for a bit, Nath got new sunglasses, and we took the chance to get out and about for more walking meetings. It’s been a month of reconnecting with the elements both inside and outside of the studio, from the Ocean to the land and the power of wind, sun, and water.

In a flash ??:

  • We hosted client visits and workshops with Volans and Ward Williams.
  • We collaborated with The House on a new look for Thrive Renewables.
  • The 'Year of Democracy' is under way and we supported a campaign against misinformation, hate speech, and manipulation.
  • The design team looked for inspiration in maps and gardens for tranquil background illustrations.
  • Simon paddled out for clean water.
  • Rosanna and Camilla checked what’s new at Falmouth University grad shows.
  • We celebrated the release of the X Trillion film. It follows the journey of former Leap client eXXpedition’s all-women crew across the North Pacific Ocean.
  • Coming to Goodfest? Grab your ticket quick.

STUDIO

For the love of Zoom

The best talks happen at about 4 mph putting one foot in front of the other. As much as we all love Zoom ;), a walk and talk hits different. Meeting face to face (or side by side!) is still so important for building relationships and getting everyone on the same page.?

In the past couple of weeks, we hosted a brilliant workshop with the Volans team to kick off an exciting new project. We’ve also had visits from the Ward Williams team getting ready to launch some anticipated new work.

STUDIO WORK

Thriving together

Leap worked with fellow B Corp The House to launch Thrive Renewables’ new brand identity. We were commissioned to breathe new life into the existing logo and create a new visual language including a word mark, colour palette, typography and illustrative brand mechanisms. The refreshed brand takes inspiration from the original logo and new narrative from The House — ’The power of together’ — taking a single idea and building it into a movement.?

The year of democracy

2024 is one of the most important years for democracy this century. The UK is one of?65+ countries (plus the European Union) that will be holding elections this year, affecting about half of the world’s population. But democracy is?getting its backside kicked by online disinformation and propaganda attempting to manipulate outcomes and making people question what is real and not.?But there are people attempting to hold platforms to account.

We were immensely proud to be asked to design and develop the Year of Democracy?campaign website?on behalf of our client Digital Action and the Global Coalition For Tech Justice . They bring together activists, civil society, journalists, academics, experts and concerned citizens to put pressure on Big Tech to make online platforms safe for us all.

INSPIRATION

Cut the crap

Our MD Simon Thomason , joined the Falmouth paddle out protest on the 18th of May – one of 30 events organised by Surfers Against Sewage . From Cornwall all the way up to Edinburgh, communities showed water companies, regulators and the Government that we will not stop until there is an end to sewage pollution in our waters.

Attending the SAS paddle out protest was amazing, and it was awesome to see so many people come together for a great cause on my local beach. I loved paddling out with my daughter and wife and catching up with lots of friends and colleagues who are also passionate about the ocean. With an election coming up, it’s super important to get ALL political parties to pay attention. They need to know how much we care about the ocean and rivers and hold them accountable. One of the big things we need to push for is changing how water companies operate. If the value of nature is on their balance sheets, the health of the ocean and rivers becomes a top priority. It’s time for them to take real responsibility for the impact they have on the environment.

INSPIRATION

The future is in safe hands

Rosanna and Camilla attended the Falmouth University grad show and were mightily impressed by the talent, standard of work and innovative ideas. There were many purpose-driven projects and we saw lots of analogue executions — maybe in response to AI fatigue and digital overload?

“It was really encouraging to see so many great projects that, apart from looking great, also recognise the potential for creative work to be part of the solutions to social and environmental challenges.”
