From students to employees – how our open day visitors found their first jobs in marketing

Earlier this year, we held our first graduate open day at The Armstrong Partnership, in conjunction with local universities including the University of Chester. We invited a group of final year students from a range of courses to find out more about agency life, potential career options, and to meet our team.

Fast forward six months and we’re delighted to have four fully-fledged grads in their first full-time creative and client services roles at the agency! The group has worked closely with our senior team to learn the ropes in their new roles and build their own career development plans to help set goals for what they want to achieve.

Account execs Matthew, Ellie and Lily and Junior Designer Jake?have all taken permanent positions following their grad placements.

Agency CEO Daniel Owen said: “I’m really proud that Matthew, Ellie, Lily and Jake have chosen to join the agency on a permanent basis. It’s proof of the success of our open day in bringing new talent through the doors to meet our team face-to-face and get a real grasp of what Armstrong is all about. They’ve all excelled during their grad placements and settled in from day one – we’re fortunate to have such enthusiastic and dedicated individuals as part of our growing team.”?

“As a junior designer, Jake is working closely with our design team to hone his skills, while Matthew, Ellie and Lily are learning from our client services team and all proving to be excellent at their roles. We’ve all been impressed with how eager and proactive they are.”

Our first graduate open day was held in May this year

Over 30 students joined our open day back in May of this year, where they heard from our client services and creative leads and learned more about what life in a busy marketing agency is like. For many, it was their first glimpse behind the doors of an agency and the first time they had considered a career in B2B marketing.

Matthew, one of our new account execs, said: “The graduate open day was brilliant and such a good way to visit a marketing agency and get to meet and discuss with the people behind their projects. I applied for a role following the open day and I’ve loved my first few months here!

“I love having the opportunity to get involved with a range of exciting marketing campaigns and their creative routes and strategy, whilst also maintaining great relationships with our clients and gaining an understanding of their brand. It’s brilliant to work with and learn from such an experienced creative and client team who can bring project ideas to life - it’s a great experience to help develop a brief or proposal into a campaign!”?

And Lily, another of our new account execs, added: “I’ve loved having the opportunity to work alongside people extremely talented in their field, allowing me to expand my skill set, and I’m really looking forward to developing my knowledge further so I can take on bigger and more exciting projects!”
