From Startup Sprinter to Authenticity Maven: A Journey of Personal & Professional Evolution
Logan Fleck
Virtual administrative & marketing tactical support for entrepreneurs, small businesses & startups looking for balance & scalability
In the cutthroat and exhilarating world of #startups , every moment is a sprint towards towering targets. A galaxy of young minds fueled by ambition and adrenaline, these organizations are brimming with relentless energy. Each of us plays many roles, typically spread amongst a small army in traditional corporate structures.
In this hustle, I found myself donning various avatars. I was a new mother nursing a baby, the strategic guru crafting intricate marketing plans, and the unwavering pillar attempting to hold it all together. Work morphed into an endless marathon, causing my identity to blur in the process.
The experiences at a certain startup vividly embody this dynamic. Surrounded by a team of brilliant, enthusiastic, and notably younger colleagues, I tried to stay afloat amidst a sea of lofty expectations and can-do attitudes. But the stark disconnect between their hunger and my on-ground reality began to quickly wear me down.
I hopped onto another venture, hoping for a change of pace, only to be met with revenue targets that seemed more like mountain peaks. The personal challenges brewing in the background didn’t make the climb any more accessible. Anxiety and depression were beginning to creep in, and I was too consumed in the grind to recognize it.
It was time for a pit stop. I found myself asking, "Am I juggling too much?" I was indeed. My pursuit of fulfilling endless roles was not just eclipsing my happiness but also impacting my mental health. The frantic rush had taken a toll, and my authentic self seemed to be slipping away.
Enough was enough. I switched lanes from the perpetual startup race to founding my own virtual admin and marketing tactical support firm. In doing so, I forged a path toward a life centered around authenticity.
Today, I'm more than just a multi-role player in the startup saga. I am a creative force, a nurturing mother, a reliable friend, and a woman unafraid of embracing her quirks and flaws. I still burn the midnight oil, but it's a choice, not a burden. The hustle has taken on a new meaning - it's a dance choreographed to my tune.
As a business owner, I have the liberty to partner with startups, lending my expertise where needed, but the weight of the world is no longer solely on my shoulders. I work on my terms, unfettered by expectations or audacious benchmarks. I am the master of my time, the author of my narrative.
To those engaged in the whirlwind of startup culture, feeling overwhelmed is okay. It's okay to question, to say 'No' when necessary. Embrace authenticity over illusion. After all, the most vital startup you'll ever work on is yourself. #entrepreneurjourney #startupculture #authenticitymatters #careershift #selfdiscovery
