??? ?
The Pre-VMS Era?
Before the VMS? many are familiar with today, workforce management was a patchwork of email chains and spreadsheets. Without centralized solutions, inefficiencies ran rampant—tracking costs was a guessing game, and rogue spending was common.?
?
VMS 1.0: Modular Beginnings?
Early VMS tools introduced single-module platforms focused on staff augmentation. While an improvement, these systems were limited by default workflows and basic cloud computing. Basic reporting for the contingent workforce was rudimentary, and slow deployment hindered widespread adoption, insights, and growth. ?
?
VMS 2.0: Legacy Limitations?
As demand for more comprehensive and accessible workforce solutions grew, modular systems emerged with promises of flexibility, enhanced modularity and expanded flexible functionalities. This tech featured modular architecture that could theoretically manage both staff augmentation and Statement of Work (SOW) engagements, but it required separate implementations and costly integrations.?
However, their rigid, code-based workflows, reliance on costly integrations, and basic reporting capabilities left much to be desired. Many organizations still rely on this outdated tech, facing challenges in scalability and adaptability as they deal with ERP Lock-In, patchy, time-consuming solutions, and out of control costs. ?
