From Silver Screen to Stage

Ever wanted to learn more background information about one of the nation’s largest community choirs? The dedication of the musicians and their muse? Then this week’s "From Silver Screen to Stage" is meant for you!

As many know, the Community Choir is a staple program to CFCArts and admired for both creativity and intricacy when it comes to performances.??

The intricacy of this program is even more admirable when you remember that it's 350+ voices strong and all non-auditioned artists who meet once a week. Their ability to create tight harmonies as a whole while remaining unique as singers is a masterful craft – but so is their unity as an ensemble.

"The Community Choir provides an inclusive space for everyone to come together and create beautiful music,” said Justin Muchoney, Artistic Director and Vice President of Member & Patron Experience. “Our CFCArts adult choir is un-auditioned, unlimited, and unbelievable."

?Our Orlando native program began in 2011 and has become a cherished space and home for many while a recreational source of entertainment. Even after the pandemic, it remained a refuge and place of safety for individuals who felt lost and abandoned to be uplifted again. Whether it's in tragedy or even in the wonderful spirit of the holidays, the sentiment stays the same.

"Joining the choir completely changed my life," said Community Choir Member Ambassador Dr. Aleta Ashford. "It was as if I had been found. With each new show, I have increased my confidence and discovered that I am capable of more than the limits and expectations set forth by other people."

?Many may ask why or how this is possible with a group of people so large and diverse in age, career, walks of life, and so much more, but it all boils down to their shared musical passion and being guided by an outstanding team with the vision to amplify that.

?"There’s no one that has a better time onstage than our choir members," Justin said, "and our vision is to serve their passion for the music and for the community by creating an environment where they can shine."
