From Self-Doubt to Self-Published: The Unplanned Journey of 150 Weeks

From Self-Doubt to Self-Published: The Unplanned Journey of 150 Weeks

I'd have laughed if you’d told me three years ago that I’d post weekly reflections for 150 weeks straight, publish my first book, and host a roomful of people eager to hear me speak. Loudly.

Yet, here I am.

What began as a casual attempt to document my thoughts has blossomed into something far more meaningful—not just for me, but for those who’ve read along the way.

How It Began

It started simply: one weekend, one thought.

I decided to share a nugget of life—a reflection inspired by my experiences. I had no grand plans or roadmap; I just hoped that someone, somewhere, might connect with what I had to say.

As the weeks turned into months, I realised something remarkable: what I wrote resonated. Readers often felt like I was telling their story; some even joked that I’d read their minds.

The truth is, these stories weren’t unique to me. They were threads from the shared fabric of life: work, relationships, the joy of small wins, the weight of challenges, and the inspiration drawn from everyday heroes—all wrapped in my perspective.

From Weekend Reflections to a Book

Then came the unexpected twist. Somewhere around the hundredth nugget, the idea of compiling these reflections into a book surfaced. I didn’t jump in right away.

But I heard from readers—one, two, three, and some more—who suggested a book.

Eventually, I got to work. The manuscript flowed easily because it came from the heart. But the real challenge lay ahead: self-promotion. I’ve always been more comfortable behind the scenes, so promoting my book felt like asking a fish to climb a tree.

But here’s the thing: if you’ve poured your heart into something, you owe it the chance to be seen. I had to learn that the hard way. I began sharing my book more openly, facing the camera for interviews, and even hosting an event to celebrate its launch—a first for me.

To my surprise, people showed up. They filled the room with warmth, encouragement, and curiosity. We talked about life, lessons, and stories, and for the first time, I felt okay sharing my journey in person.

Why This Matters

If there’s one thing this journey has taught me, it’s this: keep an open mind and write (or anything else you desire) with your heart. The rest tends to fall into place.

The Unplanned can Work, too: None of this was meticulously planned. The writing, the book, the event—it all happened because I let things evolve naturally.

Face Your Fears: Whether it’s speaking on stage or promoting your work, stepping out of your comfort zone is where growth happens.

Celebrate Small Wins: The 50+ reviews on my book, which has an average 5-star rating on Amazon, aren’t just numbers but stories of connection. Each one means the world to me.

As I post the 150th edition of my reflections, I’m overwhelmed with gratitude—for the readers who’ve indulged me, the lessons learned along the way, and the surprises life has thrown my way.

Thank you for being a part of this journey.

And if you’re still waiting for your sign to start something new, here it is: This isn’t just about my journey. It’s about what you can do when you decide to take that first step and then stick with it. Maybe it’s writing. Perhaps it’s something else that you cherish. Or it could be finally tackling something that discomforts you.

Whatever it is, please do it.

Sometimes I feel very jealous of knowing so many things about you. I wish I could write such beautiful words and lines like you. I wish I could join you on this journey, but whenever I read these lines, I join you on this journey, on your time in a limited way.

I completely agree with your journey.. Mine was very similar... you took 150 weeks.. for me it was a ordeal.of around 10 months... What started as a casual blogpost turned into my first book titled 'What School Doesn't Teach You'
