From Self actualization to Social Need- The adverse effects of Pandemic for Fresh graduate

The outbreak of Covid-19 has created uncertainty for students/ fresh graduates whose study and career plans have been knocked off.

During 2020 many employers have taken the decision to delay or reduce the number of graduates that they are recruiting. This has led to the decline of job opportunities.

Nearly two-thirds of finalists especially from premier institutes in India feel negative about the career prospect and have lost job offers because of the Covid-19 crisis.

A huge dip in the salary is seen for a fresh graduate being hired for an entry-level position irrespective of passing out from premier institutes like IITs and IIMs.

Diagnostic steps which can decrease the rate of job crisis-

·      Job retention schemes (JRS) have been one of the main policy tools in many advanced countries to contain mass layoffs and protect incomes

·      Many countries adopted a vast range of emergency measures aimed at supporting firms' liquidity.

·      Expanded income support schemes have been crucial in mitigating economic hardships. They have contributed to stabilizing the economy by supporting aggregate demand.

·      Few countries undertook measures to help public employment services deal with soaring benefit claims, and adapt to physical-distancing requirements.

·      Solving the health crisis is an essential precondition to solving economic and job crisis.
