From Scarcity to Abundance-"The Power of Gratitude"
Kiruthika Shrinivas ACMA, CPA
US Certified Public Accountant | Cost & Management Accountant -All India Rank holder| DAT Senior associate at PwC Mexico | ACMA | Bachelor's Degree in Accounting & Finance | Ex-TVS|
From my childhood to my teenage years, I used to be the most carefree person in a room, I don’t even have any memory of being scared or afraid of anyone, and never bothered about grades,
Everything in life seemed to be easy and joyful until my father met with a small accident and got a leg fracture during my first year of college, and being raised by a single parent, this incident shook me entirely and made a huge impact on my life, That’s the first time I have started taking responsibility of taking care of my house and got serious with my studies that was my first memory of aiming to achieve some good grades.
Back then there used to be few cycle tests before each semester in my college and I started taking these small steps very seriously and performed well in one such test and got applause from my HOD & the entire classroom, and that was the very first time someone clapped for me as an appreciation, I still remember the joy and sense of achievement that I felt that day,
?this might look childish, but I started imagining myself getting the same appreciation and applause for my next semester and I made it a part of my study routine, Guess what It worked next time too, I topped for the second time and felt my visuals turning into reality, and it worked even for the next 3 to 6th semesters and I became the class topper and a rank holder for my department.
Back then, I didn’t know about the name of this entire process nor about any books that speak about this process of imagining oneself into successful situations, but I continued to do it as I used to do before, and it works every single time.
It was only when I started my CMA Final part, I was introduced to this book called The Secret by Rhonda Byrne by one of my closest friends, she shared with me this YouTube link to a film called the secret which was about how imagining oneself into successful and joyful situations are transforming people’s lives for better, I was so amazed about that entire film and could resonate with this entire concept with my past experiences, and I started practicing it on a very serious note and guess what it did to my life?
1-????I visualized it while I was working hard for getting an All India Rank in CMA final exams and it happened!
2-????I badly wanted to move to another city due to my father’s health while I was working in another city and I got my transfer within a?month of asking for it
- it happened again!
3-????I worked for two teams in my previous job and while I was in my first team I visualized having?a better work environment and colleagues who appreciate my work -it happened again!
4-????I visualized becoming a CPA (My current country doesn’t have CPA exam testing), I had to cross many countries for my exam but guess what?
it happened too!
These are a few milestones, but there were so many small wins, "The Secret book and Gratitude practice " also helped me to let go of my fears and doubts. I realized that I was the only one holding myself back from achieving my full potential. By changing my thoughts and beliefs, I was able to break free from my negative mindset and start living a more fulfilling life.
I am sure that you would have come across many articles about how to manifest or how to use a vision board, so am not going to write the same, here are my 6 go-to lists about how you can make the best use of practicing gratitude to transform your life.
1-????Gratitude is not only for big accomplishments
?Don’t visualize just for bigger achievements,

imagine yourself getting your favorite parking space today!
Imagine yourself having a better sleep!
Imagine yourself having a great day at the office,
It works.
2-????Visualizing images won’t work unless you do
Know that it is a two-way process,
You have to work on your dreams while you are imagining yourself holding that victory cup,
It doesn’t work like a magic, it doesn’t work unless you do.
3-????Start a gratitude journal
Write down three things you are grateful for every day. They can be big or small, but make sure you take a few moments to reflect on why you are grateful for each thing.
4-????You can't have a positive lifestyle with a negative mindset
Negative mindset can hold you back from achieving your goals and manifesting your desires. It's important to work on shifting your mindset and focusing on positive affirmations and beliefs that align with your goals and aspirations.
5-????Define your goals
If your goals are vague or unclear, it can be challenging to manifest them into reality. It's important to take the time to reflect on what you truly want and create a vision board that aligns with your values and priorities.
6-????Be realistic
Setting achievable goals that align with your values and purpose can be more effective in helping you to make progress toward your dreams.
For example, visualizing becoming a CEO is okay, but you can’t become a CEO overnight!
Set your goal to get promoted to the next position closer to your dream,
It always works like one step closer and turns achievable goals into reality.
Practicing gratitude has transformed my life in countless ways. By focusing on what I have, rather than what I don't have, expressing gratitude towards others, and finding joy in challenging situations, I have found greater happiness, contentment, and fulfillment.
I Hope your life transforms too!
