From Scarcity to Abundance: My Personal Transformational Journey in Mindset and Resilience

From Scarcity to Abundance: My Personal Transformational Journey in Mindset and Resilience

I want to share some thoughts on what I know of abundance versus scarcity and how embracing abundance can lead to a more fulfilling and prosperous future.

Growing up, I was taught about scarcity by my school, family, and friends. I don’t blame them; it’s natural. A typical human might find that 80% of daily thoughts, out of the 6,000 or so we have, are negative. This negativity stems from our primal instincts, which often tell us that there’s not enough—whether it’s resources, money, partners, jobs, clients, or even food. The list is infinite.

However, abundance is a practice and a mindset that reassures us we have enough. Consider whether we have more resources than our ancestors, better water, cleaner air, or faster internet. Those who practice an abundance mindset often become more creative and can find opportunities even in times of crisis.

Is it okay to feel scarcity? Absolutely. It’s a natural feeling. But it’s important to remember to seize this opportunity to rewire our brains using the lens of abundance. For instance, will AI destroy jobs? Yes, it will. But can we also find ways to work together with AI? Definitely. Is influencer and MLM marketing harmful to the economy? It’s debatable, but we can certainly find ways to make it a viable opportunity that spreads goodness.

For every scarcity prerogative, there is an abundance alternative.

Abundance is not about right or wrong; it’s about recognizing and enjoying the plethora of experiences we have. It can be a natural trust in the abundance of air and water (that they are always enough). Success is not a zero-sum game, and while trading might be, we can think creatively about how to change this game or perception.

I used to believe that for every winner, there must be a loser, but life has shown me that winning and losing are never permanent. Will there always be top academics (first class honors and MBAs) and the rest who seem like social misfits? Yes. But do the top academics always get paid the most? Not so. Life has shown me that misfits earn way more than those pursuing a modest education.

Sometimes, I also feel scarcity within me. I wonder why someone else is living a wonderful life while I am not. I realize this is just a limiting belief and imagination. With an abundance mindset, I can be creative and turn every negative thought or experience into a positive one. I don’t need to focus on the bad when I can concentrate on the good. Whatever ever happens to me in life aims to serve me and that can only be for a better future.

Many people around me preach abundance but struggle to practice it to the fullest extent. They still see the world as competitive and unfair. But changing our perspective can change the outcome. The US-China trade war and US presidential elections are examples of scarcity-driven situations. Influencers often share opinions that hurt others without being apologetic, claiming to be direct, honest and vocal, in the name of truth or tough love, but these opinions can leave lasting negative impacts, just like a poisoned apple.

People often ask why I share my trading and business notes so openly without expecting anything in return. My simple answer is that we live in an era where information is abundant. What I aim to do is serve you by curating the overwhelming noise into a set of clear and actionable items. I don't expect immediate monetary returns or instant gratification because my philosophy is rooted in the belief that the true impact of these efforts will be realized decades later.

Whenever I feel scarcity, I pause, take a deep breath, and look for evidence to destabilize these disempowering thoughts. Adopting an abundance mindset is a continuous effort to rewire my deeply ingrained neural pathways. So, let’s put on the cap of abundance and see how we can help others with kindness today.

Here's a quote on abundance I heard from Alaric Ong years ago: "?????? ???????? ?????? ???????? ???????? ?????? ?????????????????? ???? ???????????? ?????????? ???????????????? ???????? ?????? ?????????????? ??????????." A quote by our dear Zig.

This wisdom reminds us that abundance doesn't require diminishing the light of others. Unfortunately, many who operate from a scarcity mindset often try to disrupt others' success instead (either secretly or openly). Let's focus on building each other up instead.

Thank you for reading and I am grateful.

??.??.?? I believe that one of the key factors to closing the income gap is for everyone to embrace an abundance mindset and take action to be %1 better each day in terms of health, finances and relationships.

??.??.?? Karma accumulation can be measured. Keep on elevating your standards from good to outstanding.
