From Richard Griffiths′Breathe In @ Subject Pole of Attention to Eckhart Tolle′s Power of Now

When Bruno Rodriguez Lopez chose the above quote and image of Eckhart Tolle for SPIRITUAL INTELLIGENCE LEADERSHIP quite probably he was not realizing (like 99.9% of people) that he had chosen something invaluable simply because at that time he was not thinking but he was divinely inspired.

This is what this article is about and follows a thorough research in English at my my 3.0 URL Pulse Mobile that you really need to peruse if you are to fully come to terms with the quality work we do because this is the completion of a research which makes up a book of some 250 pages in A4 size. Quite an encyclopedia really.

Nonetheless as a concession to the skeptics some bits of the research together with international success at LInkediN Pulse are shown both here but also as footnote to the article because the new UI does it that way here.

Richard Griffith′s tutorials and unique methodology

Spiritual Intelligence started more than 2 decades ago with Danah Zohar and has nothing do with religion but with this wise quote from Einstein

and if you are still skeptical the British expert Geraldine Bown explains very well here

Even though I have read and applied SQ21 from Cindy Wigglesworth the best way to start (and become expert) is applying this tutorial by Richard Griffiths

particularly when it comes to "breathe in at the subject pole of attention" and when he recommends that you do it at all times including when you are going for a walk

This beautifully and clearly explained at Richard′s SQI portal from which you need to learn a number of concepts i.e.

Subject-pole of Attention

At the subject-pole of attention is?feeling-awareness?itself, or consciousness itself, otherwise known as the?soul. To identify with the subject-pole of attention is simply to be the presence of awareness, or simply to be that which is aware. The subject-pole of attention is free from modification by anything at the object-pole of attention. Therefore the qualities of feeling-awareness itself (or the soul) represent source energy in its inherent unmodified form, as experienced at the subject-pole of attention in moments of presence, in the form of peace, compassion, joy, love, wisdom, and creativity. (Richard Griffiths)

Object-pole of Attention

At the object-pole of attention is everything we are aware of, from perceptions of external surroundings, to thoughts, emotions, beliefs, memories, self-image, personal story, etc. The?ego?is?experienced as?identity with states of?the body and mind at the object-pole of attention. (Richard Griffiths)

The twin poles of attention represent the basic operating system of human awareness.

This is not psychology. This is basic knowledge as Einstein′s avatar said above. And Ronald Stern too of course. It basically says that unless you breathe in (which by the way is the very second step of Cindy′s method, the first being to stop) in any given situation your ego is talking to you. That is why Geraldine above tells you that the ego is an impostor in your brain which leads you to make mistakes. Bob Proctor put it in other words, the human brain believes lies.

Quite frankly these leadership experts are quite clearly telling you that unless you learn how to control the ego in any given situation you are not a leader but a boss

Eckhart Tolle′s power of now: You are not your mind

No alt text provided for this image

You are not your mind is the very first chapter of Eckhart Tolle′s power of mind. We will scrutinize it a little bit but at the outset it is very pertinent that already in the introduction Eckhart says

People would occasionally come up to me and say. "I want what you have. Can you give it to me, or show me how to get it?" And I would say. "You have it already. You just can't feel it because your mind is making too much noise." That answer later grew into the book that you are holding in your hands. Before I knew it, I had an external identity again. I had become a spiritual teacher. (Eckhart Tolle)

This too much noise is the object pole of attention which is ego driven. And this includes all the passions, negativity, obsessions and simply thoughts....which are wrong and unnecessary.

We could end up with dozens of Eckhart Tolle′s explanations but since our objective is to validate the assertion from Bruno let us choose just 10 of them as a guidance

1.The predominance of mind is no more than a stage in the evolution of consciousness.

2.We need to go on to the next stage now as a matter of urgency, otherwise, we will be destroyed by the mind, which has grown into a monster.

3.Thinking and consciousness are not synonymous. Thinking is only a small aspect of consciousness. Thought cannot exist without consciousness, but consciousness does not need thought.

4.Enlightenment means rising above thought, not falling back to a level below thought, the level of an animal or a plant. In the enlightened state, you still use your thinking mind when needed, but in a much more focused and effective way than before. You use it mostly for practical purposes, but you are free of the involuntary internal dialogue, and there is inner stillness.

5. When you do use your mind, and particularly when a creative solution is needed, you oscillate every few minutes or so between thought and stillness, between mind and no-mind. No-mind is consciousness without thought. Only in that way is it possible to think creatively, because only in that way does thought have any real power.

6.Thought alone, when it is no longer connected with the much vaster realm of consciousness, quickly becomes barren, insane, destructive. The mind is essentially a survival machine. Attack and defense against other minds, gathering, storing, and analyzing information - this is what it is good at, but it is not at all creative.

7. All true artists, whether they know it or not, create from a place of no-mind, from inner stillness. The mind then gives form to the creative impulse or insight. Even the great scientists have reported that their creative breakthroughs came at a time of mental quietude.

8. The surprising result of a nation-wide inquiry among America's most eminent mathematicians, including Einstein, to find out their working methods, was that thinking "plays only a subordinate part in the brief, decisive phase of the creative act itself."

9. Therefore the simple reason why the majority of scientists are not creative is not because they don't know how to think but because they don't know how to stop thinking! It wasn’t through the mind, through thinking, that the miracle that is life on earth or your body were created and are being sustained. There is clearly an intelligence at work that is far greater than the mind. How can a single human cell measuring 1/1,000 of an inch across contain instructions within its DNA that would fill 1,000 books of 100 pages each?

10.The more we learn about the workings of the body, the more we realize just how vast is the intelligence at work within it and how little we know. When the mind reconnects with that, it becomes a most wonderful tool. It then serves something greater than itself.

If you think this is all theory, I wholeheartedly recommend you to listen to Bob Proctor here in this wonderful video

hopefully when you hear that

The body is the instrument of the mind, it will do what is told (Bob Proctor)

you will be more convinced. Humility plays a quite important role on understanding

and the reason I say this is because it is no coincidence that both Eckhart Tolle and the British expert Sarah Alexander (author of Spiritual Intelligence in Leadership: From Manager to Leader of your Own Life)

constantly refer to the book A Course in Miracles. Both have read and and applied it. Here my admiration. And my recommendation and present to the reader which Chapter 4 The Illusions of the Ego which I read daily, and from which I extract this

I have said that you cannot change your mind by changing your behaviour, but I have also said, and many times, that you?can change your mind. When your mood tells you that you have chosen wrongly, and this is so whenever you are not joyous, then?know this need not be. In every case you have thought wrongly about some brother God created, and are perceiving images your ego makes in a darkened glass. Think honestly what you have thought that God would not have thought, and what you have not thought that God would have you think. Search sincerely for what you have done and left undone accordingly, and then change your mind to think with God's. This may seem hard to do, but it is much easier than trying to think against it. Your mind is one with God's. Denying this and thinking otherwise has held your ego together, but has literally split your mind. As a loving brother I am deeply concerned with your mind, and urge you to follow my example as you look at yourself and at your brother, and see in both the glorious creations of a glorious Father.

I would humbly say that Bruno Rodríguez López chose very wisely. This is the evidence

Instead of "watching the thinker," you can also create a gap in the mind stream simply by directing the focus of your attention into the Now. Just become intensely conscious of the present moment. This is a deeply satisfying thing to do. In this way, you draw consciousness away from mind activity and create a gap of no-mind in which you are highly alert and aware but not thinking. This is the essence of meditation. In your everyday life, you can practice this by taking any routine activity that normally is only a means to an end and giving it your fullest attention, so that it becomes an end in itself. For example, every time you walk up and down the stairs in your house or place of work, pay close attention to every step, every movement, even your breathing. Be totally present. Or when you wash your hands, pay attention to all the sense perceptions associated with the activity the sound and feel of the water, the movement of your hands, the scent of the soap, and so on. Or when you get into your car, after you close the door, pause for a few seconds and observe the flow of your breath. Become aware of a silent but powerful sense of presence. There is one certain criterion by which you can measure your success in this practice: the degree of peace that you feel within.?(Eckhart Tolle)

That is why I said earlier that if you apply Richard Griffiths′s breathe in at the subject pole of attention it becomes very enlightening to understand and apply Eckhart Tolle′s concepts. Clearly the above quote is 100% what Richard says in his video.

SQ = P (IQ+EQ) and P = presence This equation means that SQ equals IQ and EQ magnified by the power of presence. Thus spiritual intelligence results when intellectual and emotional intelligence are exercised in the state of presence. But what is presence? Presence is the shift from the object-pole of attention to the subject-pole of attention, which results in the corresponding shift from ego to soul. When you shift to the subject-pole of attention, by identifying with feeling-awareness itself instead of identifying with your body and mind, there is greater clarity about everything at the object-pole of attention, including your immediate surroundings. However, the essential nature of presence is the shift from ego to soul, and greater clarity of mind is one of the results. Just needed to add here that, although the experience of presence is unmistakable, nevertheless the nature of presence is often misunderstood. Anyhow; the native qualities of feeling-awareness itself are experienced at the subject-pole of attention in moments of presence, in the form of wisdom, compassion, integrity, joy, love, creativity, and peace. Consequently, the soul does not seek satisfaction elsewhere, in the next experience, because the soul is already happy, and therefore does not use this moment as a means to the next. Instead of reacting to events from a state of lack, the soul therefore responds from a state of prior fulfillment. Let’s tap on the soul – the soul is your existential self, or your true self. The soul is founded on identification with feeling-awareness itself (or consciousness itself) at the subject-pole of attention. The soul exercises IQ and EQ with SQ. Thanks
