Many people call themselves Christians, but what does it mean to truly embody Christ’s teachings? A real Christian, in the truest sense, has realized that they are the Christ manifest in human form, fully aware that we are all part of one infinitely intelligent unconditionally loving Creator. We must move beyond the limitations of our thinking minds and dogmatic belief systems created by our egos to reach our highest potential.
The Ego and Belief Systems
Our current Christian organizations often tether their members through rigid belief structures, such as the Nicene Creed, adopted at the First Council of Nicea in 325 A.D.
These systems, born of the ego, have caused immense pain and suffering, particularly during and since the European colonization of Africa and the Americas. We are still living through the pain and suffering of colonization to this day.
To be free and enter the Kingdom of Heaven, we must surrender and let go of these limiting beliefs.
We need to understand, heaven is not a location. Some place we go to after die if we behave ourselves, but a state of consciousness. As Jesus taught, heaven is the emergence of a transformed state of human consciousness, and earth is its physical reflection.
My Journey Through Christianity
At 25, I joined the Episcopal Church after transitioning from Presbyterian and Methodist backgrounds. My reasons were threefold:
1. Belief Structures: The Episcopal Church accepted openly gay men like myself, although with some limitations. They were beginning to get comfortable with ordaining openly LGBTQ people, however when we elected an openly gay man to Bishop there was an uproar. We were definitely not allowed to get married.
2. Christian Contemplatives: I found a small group of Christian contemplatives at St. Luke’s Cathedral in Orlando, Florida. Their meditation practice resonated with me more than traditional Sunday School teachings. This was the beginning of a lifetime of daily spiritual practice, which I enjoy today.
3. Socioeconomic Aspirations: At the time, I believed worshiping alongside the wealthy and successful would lead me to similar success?—?a belief rooted in ego and fear. The Episcopal Church is well known for attracting smart, rich, and successful people into its churches.
In 2023, I left the Episcopal Church after facing rejection from two parish rectors who explicitly told me and my two adopted African gay sons that we were not welcome. This traumatic experience led me to the Unitarian Universalist Montclair Congregation, UUMC, where I found a community that truly embodied Christ’s teachings of love and acceptance.
As painful and traumatizing as it was at the time, I have forgiven myself and all parties involved and now feel grateful for the transformational experience.

Finding True Christianity
In the Unitarian Universalist community, which operates without dogmatic beliefs, I found the freedom to be a real Christian?—?fully aware that I am Christ made manifest. Here, we live by a covenant of agreements, emphasizing love for one another over rigid belief systems. This approach aligns with Jesus’s teachings to love ourselves and each other.
Living as the Christ
Embracing our true nature as manifestations of Christ allows us to transmute negative energies into love. Recently, at a men’s retreat, two men expressed anger towards me for my remarks about Trump and MAGA Republicans. Here is my response:
“I respect anyone’s political beliefs, but it’s clear that the Trump and MAGA Republicans aim to turn our country into an authoritarian fascist dictatorship. This is not judgment. This is a reflection of their stated goals as laid out in the Trump and MAGA Republicans’ Project 2025 playbook. If you support them, that’s your choice, but I will continue to speak out for democracy and freedom.
For the past year, I have been raising two sons in East African refugee camps, who face life-threatening conditions due to the Ugandan Anti-Homosexuality Act 2023. The MAGA Republicans’ Project 2025 playbook outlines a similar future. Is this the kind of country you want to live in?
We must stand up for democracy, and I hope you will join me.
Conclusion
Everything in the universe is energy, frequency, and vibration. Dark negative energies vibrate at low frequencies and can be destructive, while unconditional love vibrates at a high frequency, allowing us to transform thoughts into matter. Jesus the Christ became incarnate to teach us this truth.
Are you ready to let go of limiting beliefs and live your magnificent life to the fullest? If so, write “manifest” in the comments or send me a direct message.
Namaste,
Kintu, The Christ
