From Rejection to Resilience: My Journey to VP at Hidden Brains

Everyone has a unique story, but have you ever stopped to think about how your own story can inspire you? Often, we look outside for inspiration, but sometimes, the most powerful story comes from within. ??
The Beginning: Rejected but Not Defeated ???
A little over a decade ago, I was sitting across from a recruiter at Hidden Brains, one of the top technology consulting companies. I was eager, prepared, and confident that I had nailed the interview for a project management role. But the outcome? Rejection.
It wasn’t the rejection that hurt the most, but the fact that I had been so close. Many would give up, but I knew this was just part of the journey. I took it as a lesson, and I knew I had to keep going.
A year later, I got a second chance. This time, I was more prepared, both mentally and professionally. I got the job as a Project Manager, and little did I know, this was the start of something much bigger. ??
The Climb: From Project Manager to VP ??
Fast forward to today, and I now serve as Vice President, Global Operations leading the European Division at Hidden Brains InfoTech . It’s been a long and fulfilling road, filled with both challenges and opportunities.
One key lesson I’ve learned is that your story is never linear. It’s filled with ups and downs, but every step you take, whether forward or backward, is a part of the process.
The Importance of Rejection ??
I often reflect on that initial rejection. I wouldn't be where I am today if I had given up. Rejection isn’t failure; it’s a stepping stone. If you look at rejection as an opportunity to refine your skills and approach, you’ll eventually find yourself where you’re meant to be. ??
Lessons for the Next Generation ??
For those early in their careers, rejection is part of your growth. It’s important not to see it as a finality but as an opportunity. Here are a few tips I wish I knew when I was starting:

For recruiters and hiring managers, one piece of advice I would offer is: never underestimate the potential of those you reject. They might come back stronger, just like I did.
The People Who Helped Along the Way ??
Of course, no story is complete without acknowledging those who supported me. Sneha Sata , who recruited me, deserves a special mention. Though not in her role, but after joining, she gave me valuable feedback on how to carry myself better, and I’ve never forgotten that. Though I like to strike a balance considering being natural and having your own identify.
My journey wouldn’t have been possible without my mentor, Ram Chhawchharia , the founder of Hidden Brains. His guidance and mentorship have been instrumental in shaping my career.
I also owe a lot to my colleagues: Bhavin Chauhan , Nilay Mehta , Jigar Joshi , Parmesh Shah , and the rest of the core team. Together, we’ve faced countless challenges, and their support and accommodating me has been vital to my journey. And of course, to my team (Specially my superstars Sadhana Penta and Priyank Bothra ), whose hard work drives me every day. ??
Self-Inspiration: Becoming Your Own Source of Motivation ??
In a world where we often look to others for motivation, have you ever thought about becoming your own inspiration? Reflecting on my journey has shown me the power of perseverance, self-belief, and continual growth.
This article isn’t a declaration of success—far from it. I’m still learning, still growing, and still finding new ways to improve every day. But I hope my story encourages you to look inward and realize that you, too, have the power to inspire yourself. ??
Conclusion: What's Your Story? ??
So, what’s your story? Have you ever looked back and found inspiration in your own journey? If so, I’d love to hear it. Let’s share our stories and learn from each other’s experiences.
Remember, the story you tell yourself is just as important as the story others tell about you.
