From Procrastination to Progress

You know that moment when you sit down to work on the project that you've had looming over your head for weeks?
?
The one that's been pushed off from day to day, from week to week?
?
The one that seems so overwhelming that you don't even know where to start?
?
Well...I don't know about you but this is what happens to me...
?
I have all the best intentions.
?
It is scheduled in my calendar.
?
I'm actually quite pleased myself that I've included it in my schedule.
?
Then, the date and time comes...and...
?
And what happens...
?
I don't FEEL like doing it.
?
So, I reschedule it.
?
Hoping to be swept up by motivation at that time.
?
Hoping to be overcome by inspiration at that time.
?
One rescheduled date turns into another.
?
Then it seems to happen over and over again.
?
WHY CAN'T I JUST GET DOWN TO DOING IT?
?
Procrastination happens to all of us.
?
Why?
?
BECAUSE the moment we sit down to do the task, certain feelings come up.
?
The task seems to big.? It's OVERWHELMING.
?
I don't know where to start.? There's CONFUSION.
?

I'm not capable of doing this.? DREAD sets in.
?
Procrastination is about avoiding discomfort.
?
It's is about avoiding feelings like OVERWHELM, CONFUSION, DREAD, etc...
?
We have an instinctual reflex to escape discomfort.
?
BUT...What if you shifted your focus?
?
What if you thought about how you would feel when it's done?
?
Would you feel...
?
?
Cultivating these type of emotions ahead of time helps to motivate.
?
Imagine progressing through your task with pride.
?
Pride for starting, for doing the work, AND for completing the work.
?
You don't have to wait for it to be done to feel the emotion you want.
?
You have the ability to cultivate the emotion yourself.
?
The emotion is always available to you along the way.
?
If you feel proud of yourself from start to finish, how likely are you to procrastinate?
?
Think and feel with the end in mind.?
?
