Summit 2024 was a success!

?

It was a thrill to welcome and enjoy fellowship with the over 500 Legatus members who joined us at the Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach Resort in Dana Point, California.

?

Our attendees have given us great feedback about the Summit, and based on my conversations with fellow Legatus members, I can confidently say that this was one of the best Summits we have ever had. Christ was at the center, and we never forgot why we were meeting: to be His ambassadors in the marketplace.

?

The Summits are truly exceptional because they provide us with the opportunity to attend Mass, Adoration, and spend time with each other. We started with a wonderful opening Mass at the Mission Basilica San Juan Capistrano, followed by daily Mass and sumptuous meals, which made our fellowship even more profound.

?

Our speakers included:

?

??Archbishop Timothy Broglio

??Lila Rose

??Msgr. James Shea

??Fr. Mike Schmitz

??Eduardo Verástegui

?

and many more!

?

Save the date for Summit 2025!

?

We will be gathering from February 6-8 at the Ritz-Carlton in Naples, Florida. The theme for the Summit is, “Do Whatever He Tells You.”

??China and the Church

The relationship between the Church and China has been in the news over the last several months. Crux has the latest about this complex relationship:

?

Several significant developments for the Catholic Church in China have occurred over the past week, including a new bishop’s appointment and the establishment of a new diocese on the mainland for the first time since Mao’s Communist revolution.

?

On Jan. 29, the Vatican announced the suppression of the apostolic prefecture of Yiduxian in China and the establishment of the Diocese of Weifang in a bid to ‘promote the pastoral care of the Lord’s flock and to attend more effectively to its spiritual good.’

?

The story in Crux has more details and background about these developments.

?

Our Lady of China, pray for us!

?Catholics at the Capitol – NEXT WEEK

Legatus President Stephen Henley with attendees at the 2023 Catholics at the Capitol

There’s still time to join us at our annual Catholics at the Capitol next week, Feb. 7-8. in Washington, D.C. This special Legatus event begins Wednesday evening Feb. 7 with a beautiful Mass at the Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle, followed by a cocktail reception, dinner, and special guest presentation at The University Club by Brian Burch, President of CatholicVote.

?

On Thursday, Feb. 8, Legatus members and staff join together in the morning at the National Catholic Prayer Breakfast at the Marriott Marquis Hotel. Afterward, we’ll tour the magnificent St. Dominic’s Church, followed by a Rosary and Mass there. Finally, we’ll gather for lunch at the exclusive Capitol Hill Club, with special guest speaker Congressman Patrick McHenry.

?

??Never Forget These Prayers

We have all committed prayers to heart. Memorizing prayers helps us internalize them, making our conversations with God deeper and more profound.

This video from Ascension Presents highlights three prayers we probably haven’t memorized, but should!

?

Watch, learn, and pray! These prayers are worth committing to memory.

?

Thank you for reading, and be on the lookout for our next From the President’s Desk!

Congratulations on the Summit 2024 success! ?? Like Henry Ford said, "Coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress, and working together is success." It's wonderful to see communities unite for impactful gatherings. ?? Also, exciting news for those passionate about the environment—there's a sponsorship opportunity for the Guinness World Record of Tree Planting.
