From Practice to the Grave.

From Practice to the Grave.

It was a lazy Saturday afternoon, Elizabeth and I were having lunch, she seemed troubled.

She said, that her and her husband Pierre, both dentists by professions had moved to Dubai 4 years ago, and that when the opportunity arose to move to a tax free environment where Pierre's single income could out pay their combined income, it seemed like a great move.

She knew that she could spend more time with the children and provide them the home care that they needed well into their teens.

Elizabeth went onto mention how much the move has benefited their situation financially, emotionally and that she could not see her and the family moving back to Tunisia anytime in the near future and give up their current lifestyle.

But she was really worried as one of her friend’s husband had recently passed away and she was left all alone. “What would I do if something happened like that happened to Pierre she asked, how would I continue to raise our 2 boys?”

“After all I haven’t been working for the past 4 years. How would I survive if something like that would happened to Pierre? It wouldn’t be easy for me to get a job after this long break, would it?”

She continued, “The problem is Pierre is a dentist, and in his profession like many dentists suffer from neck and spine related injuries due to standing on their feet all day. Disability is one issue, but what if the worst should happen?"

She grieved for a month after her husband died, and then spoke to me about his estate. When Katherine went over the documents, she found she was eligible to claim a million dollars in the event of his death.

It was barely a week for Katherine to get the money from the insurer after submitting the required papers. She knew this payout by the insurer would have a significant impact on the emotional well being of her and her family not to mention the financial burden the payout had removed, She knew her Adviser was to thank for this recommendation and couldn’t thank him enough for giving the right advice to her husband.

Elizabeth wanted the same security for herself, as Pierre was the sole earner in the family. ‘Can you set me and Pierre up on the same lines?”, she asked

Elizabeth can now continue to enjoy what we hope to be many more years in the Gulf and continue to living the lifestyle our tax free environment offers, We often take for granted how short time is and fail to plan for tomorrow with our busy lifestyles.

Elizabeth if comforted knowing that she has adequate cover and we continue to enjoy lunch together often, the only other recommendation I have been quick to point out is her improvement for good banter! ??

Do you have adequate cover to look after you and your family?
