From Pisa to Paris, New York to Vicenza - Uniting the World in Celebrating Fibonacci's Legacy in Art, Nature, and Architecture
Celebrating the Genius of Fibonacci: A Global Tribute to Mathematical Harmony
Today is World Fibonacci Day, in honour of the Italian mathematician who discovered the famous numerical sequence where each term is the sum of the two preceding ones. The Fibonacci sequence is renowned for its multiple applications and properties, especially for the ratio between two consecutive terms that tends toward the golden ratio, an irrational number found in nature, art, and architecture.
Around the world, events and initiatives are being held to celebrate Fibonacci and his impact. In Pisa, his birthplace, a conference was held with experts in mathematics, history, and culture to explore the origins, developments, and implications of the Fibonacci sequence. In Paris, an interactive exhibition was inaugurated, allowing visitors to engage with Fibonacci numbers and the golden ratio in various fields such as music, painting, and geometry. In New York, a flash mob saw hundreds of people forming a Fibonacci spiral in Central Park.
As part of these international celebrations, we are proud to showcase the masterful work of Angelo Bonello at the "La Proporzione Aurea" exhibition in Vicenza. On display at the Palladian Basilica until December 10, 2023, is Bonello's acclaimed "Relazioni Auree" project. This creation, a testament to Bonello's creative genius, is inspired by the Fibonacci sequence and the golden ratio, producing luminous effects that embody harmony and beauty. Through this project, Bonello demonstrates how mathematics can be a source of extraordinary creativity and aesthetic elegance.
We wish everyone a happy World Fibonacci Day and invite all to explore the wonders of his sequence, a true bridge between the world of science and that of art.
