From Passion to Purpose: My Journey to Founding StaffCover.uk

When I look back at the journey that brought me to where I am today - founding StaffCover.uk - I’m reminded of how much of it has been shaped by the lessons I’ve learned, the incredible people I’ve met, and the unwavering belief that exceptional service can truly change lives.

I come from a small village in Poland, and I’m immensely proud of my roots. My parents, with their mentorship, discipline, and hard work, inspired me to think big and chase the world. I grew up in a home that was a hub for family and visitors alike - hospitality was deeply ingrained in me from an early age. People were always coming to our house, and I saw firsthand the warmth and joy that comes from creating a welcoming space. Being hospitable is not just something I do - it runs in my blood.

Over 21 years ago, my journey began as a nanny for UHNW clients in New York. From there, I transitioned into similar roles for families in London, gaining invaluable experience in understanding the level of care and attention expected in high-end households. These experiences set the foundation for my passion for hospitality, which led me to join my husband’s hospitality business in London. Immersing myself in the culture of this city only strengthened my resolve to pursue excellence in everything I do.

One of the most pivotal moments came when I launched my first business: an Exclusive Childcare Members Club in Kensington. What started as a professional relationship with the family I worked for as a nanny blossomed into a lifelong friendship with William and his wife, Eleonore. They both had an enormous impact on my life - William, as my employer and mentor, and Eleonore, who became like a second mother to me. Eleonore once told me, “I feel responsible for you, you are so young and alone in this large city.” Her care and guidance, along with William’s mentorship, were instrumental in shaping my path.

As a passionate wolrd traveler, I’ve had the privilege of experiencing some of the world’s finest hotels, such as @The Mandarin Oriental and @The Peninsula which are my fauvorites. These experiences further solidified my understanding of what makes hospitality truly exceptional. It was also at @The Orrery on Marylebone Street, where the excellence of the staff - from the General Manager Ismael Nuha to the exceptional sommelier @Julio David Tauste Sierra - deepened my admiration for the artistry of impeccable service.

StaffCover was born from my desire to bring the same level of care, precision, and excellence to staffing that I had seen in world-class establishments. But the journey truly began in a remote location at my restaurant, where I faced daily challenges that sparked my passion for recruitment. A few years later, I met Simon Guthrie, a recruiter and headhunter, whose guidance and mentorship shaped my path. After working together for a time, I set out to build my own business. There were no investors, no shortcuts - just hard work, consistency, and a deep dedication to what I was building. I knocked on doors, listened carefully to people’s needs, and focused on building long-term relationships. Through these connections and my relentless drive to make a meaningful impact, I earned a reputation for delivering the finest talent to UHNW clients and luxury establishments.

What sets me apart is my passion - it’s not just a job; it’s my calling. Each placement I make is done with the care and attention I would give to my own family. I pride myself on ensuring the perfect match between employers and candidates, knowing that I’ve made a lasting impact.

I believe deeply in the power of human connections, which is why I love connecting with candidates through Zoom. It’s a way to truly understand their personality, aspirations, and ambitions, allowing me to make placements that not only succeed but thrive in the long term.

StaffCover is more than just a business to me - it’s my passion, driven by the desire to create meaningful connections, deliver excellence, and make a lasting impact. My journey has been full of challenges, lessons, and growth, and I am grateful for every moment and every person who has been part of it.

To anyone just starting their journey, my advice is simple: Go for it! It will be hard, and there will be challenges, but it will absolutely be worth it.

I am proud of where I come from, and with the lessons learned along the way, I look forward to continuing this journey of excellence.
