From Passion to Prosperity

We all want to be successful in life and financially take care of our families, right? The question is how do we do that and still remain happy… Most people focus on how they can make a lot of money, and then go do whatever will deliver that outcome. They hope they’ll be successful enough, so they can later focus on the things they’re really passionate about.  In other words, they put Prosperity before Passion. The only problem is if you follow that route there’s a good chance that you’ll never have the life you want! SIDE NOTE: This is a problem that a lot of people complain about as they get older.  Instead, put your Passion before Prosperity and you’ll find you can get both in the end.

If you decide to travel down the road of Passion to Prosperity you first have to answer the following question: “what are you passionate about?” I’ll give you a minute, sometimes it is a A-Ha moment and for others they think “damn, what am I passionate about?” Before you have an anxiety attack, keep reading… You can’t do something well if you don’t know where you’re heading . Here’s one hint: don’t look too far away! Most times passion is something you’ve been doing all your life. The passion of that subject just comes to you naturally. It is basically something you are a SUPER FAN of... You think about it all the time, but not in an arrogant sort of way. These are all important elements of passion. The difference between wanting to do something and actually doing something is the difference between Passion and everything else. For example, if you spent your childhood making-up stories, then drama or film could be your passion. If you loved math and were always working with numbers, then maybe Accounting is your passion. If you spent every weekend trying different ways to make money, then entrepreneurship is definitely your passion. Passion is not just something that you want to do, but it is the action full steam ahead. Others might like to call it your talent, and you might even agree, but talent without action is nothing but Passion gone to waste. (I know, deep right? Ponder that for just a minute.) Is this really something that you want to waste?

Even though no one ever wants to let their passion go to waste, there are many reasons why people do. First of all, avoidance is easy. The money is good and you tell yourself you’re happy. Those you care for are taken care of. People look up to you and you have nice things. All is fine and dandy until one day you realize that that it’s not. Something is missing, what is it? It’s your freaking passion! You think it’s because you need more, but it’s really that you could be so much more. Avoidance works until it doesn’t, and that’s when Passion comes calling your name.

When Passion comes it arrives like this…  Picture it, one day you are offered a small opportunity to do what you’re good at, and maybe your boss gives you an assignment that requires use of your talent, or you join the board of an industry group or charity that needs your skills. It may seem like nothing at the time, but the reality is you’ve come to a crossroads… and the choice is yours. You can continue to play it safe or start the journey that will change the scope of your life. If you go down this road of Passion to Prosperity your life will never be the same, but this doesn’t mean it will be easy. There is always is one thing that will always be in your way. What if you fail? What if you suck. What if the one thing you have always been good at isn’t good enough? What does that say about you? The question isn’t whether these thoughts are true, but the question is can you handle these sorts of questions?

Most people stop right there and never go forward. The fear of being “less-than” or “just average” is more than they can take. They’d rather avoid their Passion then take the chance that they will be judged as someone without talent. It’s a terrible position to find oneself in. It’s a difficult choice to make, but some decide to pursue their passion no matter the outcome. They start out slowly and begin to put their Passion out on the line and then ramp-up over time to turn their Passion to Prosperity.
