From Parts Unknown: The Real Stories Shaping Coworking

???Link In The Shownotes #10

Hey folks, it's Bernie here.

Coworking isn’t just about playing nice and networking over stale biscuits.

It’s raw, it’s real, and it’s happening right now.

If you, like me, feel a bit fucking edgy about our political leaders worldwide right now, please connect with us through the events, posts, and podcasts below.

Citizenship and Community is the key! ??

And everyone in this newsletter has some take on how a coworking space can make that happen.

One of my main motives for podcasting is that I struggle to formulate words for my feelings. Talking with you on the podcast is helpful; I know it helps you connect, too.

For example, Martyn Sibley and Jon Alexander have helped us shape the London Coworking Assembly citizen narrative; I'd never have known what to say without them.

?? (You can watch them both on YouTube here.)

I particularly liked what author and founder Ben McBride from Empower Initiative said on Instagram here.

?? In this edition:

In this week’s?Link in the Shownotes, we’re bringing together the best minds from our

LinkedIn Coworking Group and the latest voices on the Coworking Values Podcast.

And I’m talking to you if you’re from one of those killer, owner-run coworking spaces halfway around the world that no one’s heard about yet.

A lot of our LinkedIn Coworking Group and Coworking Values Podcast content is from Europe and North America - But in 2025 we will be like the Rest of World and reach beyond the Western bubble.

If you’re tired of the same voices from the same places, we need you in the group—come share what’s actually going on, from your neck of the woods to ours.

This isn’t just another online chatroom; it’s where things get real, you will save time, save money and make conections.

Step in, speak up, or kick back and see what others have to say.

Different isn’t just better; it’s what makes us.

  • A chunk of our best podcasts from the last few weeks.
  • Let's Unlock the Coworking Key Trends! - Yes folks The Coworking Trends Survey is now live!

LinkedIn Coworking Group:

We'd love to have you come and pop your head in the LinkedIn Coworking Group.

This group has existed since 2007, and over the last few months, a group of us from Coworking.com and the European Coworking Assembly have been 'curating the community' more.

?? We're exactly 8000 members in the group with 850 visitors a week - join here. ??

Our 8000th member was our academic friend Dimitris Manoukas - welcome!

The best thing you can do today is join the group here and leave a like or, even better, a comment on one of these posts.

Mauro Bellani - is coming to his third Workspace Design Show London in February 2025.

Lucía Ameijide Guerrero - Is organising the 2nd International Congress of Teleworking and Digital Nomads.

Stephen Carrick-Davies - Looking to start conversations with people in the group about running coworking and maker spaces for refugees in cities. Watch his video.

Christian Schmitz - is running his Coworking Europe Bike Tour in Sofia.

Twinkle Sawlani : Not all remote work advocates are wrong, but some oversell its benefits. Read the full post in the group.

How to share a post in the Coworking LinkedIn Group

To keep the Coworking LinkedIn Group flowing, we only accept posts that are conversation starters or ask questions.

You know the drill: Whether you run a community group online or offline if it's a 'sales channel,' no one will join.

So posts about your 'super valuable company webinar' new API to reimagine work, flash sales on your desks, senior leadership coaching or top ten marketing tips will be deleted.?

I’m a fucking ruthless content moderator after running online groups non-stop for the past fifteen years, but I’ll always message you and ask you to post another way.

We want people to share stories, ask questions and connect.

If you need help with what to post, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.

I'm happy to walk you through the process and help you bring your post to life—I did this with 80% of the posts in the list above.

Thanks Bernie! I loved our podcast. It was great to dig deep into my own personal career and talk about the strategies I use to keep progressing and growing during change and other challenging situations. This is for anyone struggling with self doubt, imposter syndrome, and procrastination. And those wanting to learn how being more present with ourselves can help with people pleasing, over giving and trying too hard and how understanding ourselves is key to effective leadership.

Thank you for the invitation come on the podcast. As someone who actively seeks out great coworking spaces given my somewhat nomadic lifestyle I deeply appreciate the work that those creating and managing such spaces do ?? There’s so much more work involved than is visible’ to those of us who benefit. And, it’s my sense the podcast supports this community in a myriad of important ways ????
