Life often presents us with trials and tribulations that can leave us feeling overwhelmed and defeated. It comes in myriad forms – from heartbreak and loss to failure and disappointment – casting shadows upon our journey and testing the resilience of our spirit. The last couple of months were quite similar to this. The concept is not at all new, I agree! Yet, the way we navigate through the dark water and find that beacon of hope, does vary for each individual due to our different circumstances. What inspired me to write about it, is a journey rather than a process, of how to discover the strength that comes from acceptance, and choosing to navigate life’s challenges with courage, positivity and compassion, an unwavering belief in Self, and the possibility of a brighter tomorrow.
Accept & Acknowledge: Yes, it does exist and that is okay! Imagine, pain as a dark tunnel that we must acknowledge and walk through before we can find the light at the end. By recognizing the very reality and depth of our pain, we lay the groundwork, for eventual healing and transformation. So, the first step is simply emphasizing that feeling overwhelming is a natural part of the human experience.
Make a Choice to Heal: In the end, our life is a result of the choices we make, to a significant extent, if not entirely. The next step is to 'Choose, Self-healing, physically, mentally and emotionally, over everything else. It's about doing things that make you feel happy. Your hobbies can be your best friends! Hit the canvas with a splash of colours, listen to your favourite music, sing your heart out, dance with the rhythm, write a journal, or simply binge on your favourite show that makes you laugh with belly ache. But, amidst all of these, make sure to talk it out, to someone you trust. Keeping it in your head doesn’t solve anything at all. Letting those feelings out and asking for help are, in my view, the most important parts of healing. Choose You taking control of your happiness and healing.
Nurturing a Brighter Outlook: Who doesn’t like a beautiful garden with blooming flowers? Just as those flowers need sunlight and water to bloom, our minds need nurturing too. What have we got when overwhelmed by the fog of Change? I found it through focusing on gratitude, mindfulness with meditation, and positivity by simply spending some time with nature (sitting by a lake, on top of a hill, or maybe walking in the woods). Most importantly, prioritize self-care, practice forgiveness, and seek meaning and purpose in your activities.
The Ripple Effect of Positivity: Envision positivity as a ripple spreading across a calm pond. As we radiate positivity in our words and small actions, the ripples extend far beyond us, touching the lives of those around us and creating a ripple effect of hope and inspiration. A very pivotal factor at this stage is to surround yourself with supportive people, challenge negative thoughts every time they pop up, and set achievable goals, remember, ‘one day at a time’. Eventually, it gets easier to cultivate a more optimistic and resilient mindset to move ahead and flourish amidst life's challenges.
Like our favourite trekking, along the way, there are peaks and valleys, twists and turns, but with each step forward, we embrace the adventure and draw closer to the vibrant horizon of a better tomorrow.
If even just one person can resonate with this and find it helpful, even in a small way, then this writing is worthwhile.
