From Page to Palette: The Life of A Beauty Editor

From YouTube to Instagram: Where It All Began
I've loved makeup since I was 8. YouTube tutorials were my go-to entertainment, and walking into Sephora or Ulta felt like heaven—I was a kid in a candy store. Trying to be like the pros I saw online, I made an Instagram account to show off my 2016 makeup skills. (Those Anastasia dip brows and cut creases are now hidden away, thankfully!)
How My Love for Makeup Grew Up
As I got older, makeup became more than just copying trends. It's now about feeling good and being myself. I used to use makeup to hide my acne and insecurities, But now I use it as inspiration. It completes my look for school or a night out with friends. The best part? I get to do makeup for other people too.
My Dream Job: Becoming a Beauty Editor
In 2023, I got my dream job: Beauty Editor for Coulture, my school's fashion magazine at UNC-Chapel Hill. I wasn't just playing with makeup anymore—I was in charge of looks for photoshoots and leading a team. I didn't know many people in this environment. I was scared and intimidated by all the talent I was surrounded by. I knew though I had found a future home and to not be shy. It's now been exciting and challenging in the best way.

Finding My People at Coulture
What makes this so great is the Coulture team. I'm surrounded by creative, passionate people who love beauty and fashion as much as I do. Seeing our makeup looks in the magazine makes me so proud. Each page shows how hard my team and I have worked.
Learning to Lead and Create
As I start my last year as Beauty Editor, I have mixed feelings. I've learned a lot about being a leader—it's not always easy, especially when you have to solve problems quickly. But I've learned to make things work, and sometimes the craziest moments lead to the best ideas.
