From Operations to Information Security: Josh's apprenticeship story

We joined Josh Lambert to find out more about how he developed new skills and

found his career path at Travel Counsellors through apprenticeships. Here's

what he had to say!

Josh, take us through your career journey at TC so far...

I've?been at TC 6 years at the end of this month, doing a variety of roles in my

time here. I came to Travel Counsellors because?I was looking for a career. In

the past?I'd had jobs, but I wanted to set myself up within an organisation that

was going places and in which I could progress. TC seemed to be the perfect fit

as it's a company that stands out to be thriving and I felt it could give me job

security. When I started it just felt right.

What role are you doing and which Apprenticeship qualification have

you been studying?

Starting in what used to be Land Only, which is now Product Sales Support

(Operations Support),?I was given the opportunity to do an apprenticeship (Level

3 Infrastructure Technician) to move into the Technology Service Desk and then

from there given another opportunity to move into security, and I will always be

grateful for that. I am currently working as an Information Security Analyst

and have, in the past 2 weeks, completed my Level 4 Cyber Security

Technologist apprenticeship, which was a 16-month qualification.

What is?your favorite part about working at TC? What makes TC

a great place to work??

I have enjoyed it all!????I would say the highlight for me is the space that I have

had to develop over the past 6 years. TC has encouraged me on that journey.?

For me it is the people. I have worked in a couple of areas in the business since I

started and in every role I have built great friendships with the people I’ve

worked with. It's rare in a business to find so many like-minded people with the

same common goal.

How do you hope to make a difference in the role that you do?

Hopefully by keeping everyone as secure while working as possible. Basically,

nudge and remind people of things to be aware of while working to be secure.

What’s next for you in your journey?

I believe that you always need to keep striving for more so I will look at the

next training courses I can do that will help with my next career aspirations.
