From One Girl’s Journey to a Thousand Dreams: Empowering Sri Lanka’s Future Through Education

As a little girl growing up in challenging circumstances, I learned a powerful lesson: Education is a treasure that can never be taken away. It’s a ladder to climb out of poverty, a light guiding through the darkest paths. Today, I’m reaching out to share my journey and invite you to participate in a life-changing initiative.

In the remote Badulla area, 28 children dream of a proper school—a place to learn, grow, and envision a brighter future. We are on a mission to build this school, with an estimated cost of 5000 euros. It’s not just a building; it’s a light of hope for many.

My own story is a testament to the power of education. With little to my name but a burning desire to learn and the support of my elder brother, I transformed my life. I’ve lived with the reality that education remains a solid foundation to rebuild and flourish when everything else is stripped away.

In Sri Lanka, we’ve already begun making a difference. Last year, we raised nearly 2,000 euros for the Warehouse Project and the Nelly Tree Project, aiding around 170 children with school supplies and educational support. We’ve even provided a laptop for a young girl, ensuring her continued education and a Projector for kids to watch educational videos. These successes are steps towards our greater goal: to create more stories like mine and to foster a generation of educated, empowered individuals who can, in turn, uplift others.
