From Old Way to New Way (Agile Testing)
Before Agile Methodology, what used to happen in traditional software development.
In phase based approach in which developers first gather all of a project’s requirements, then complete all of its architecture and design, then write all of the code, then testing & deployment, and so on. Many people specifically objected to this approach due to the lack of communication between the specialized groups that complete each phase of work.
The Software testing concepts most of us know, how does it takes place in software development. We also know that, the old era of traditional testing approach and methodologies we followed. But here I am trying to grasp your attention towards the new era of testing. What I believe is, in today's most popular and rapidly growing software development methodology is Agile Development Methodology.
In this methodology both testing and development happens simultaneously and too much of changes takes place in very short period of time. So, here development team, Product Managers and Testing teams have to work closely and keep in engaging with each other. The old era of testing methodology have been completely wiped off now. If you want to be a good tester you have to learn new techniques, tools and languages. Otherwise you will not able to sustain for long time, because of too many freshers are coming up and joining the organization will risk your job. In India every year you will see lakhs of graduates comes out of the college and try to find the job through off campus, referrals and walk-ins etc, but when fail to get job they will do some testing course to get job easily. I know being experienced tester it might be bit difficult to learn coding, tools etc, but nothing is impossible, just need to give a try and watch videos in YouTube to learn anything.
Let's come back to our testing concepts :)
Agile development methodology offers opportunities to evaluate the direction of a project throughout the development lifecycle. In Agile methodology will have to work as a team and learn from each other and understand the product in very short period.
Scrum has only three roles: Product Owner, Team, and Scrum Master.
Scrum has five meetings: Backlog (aka Backlog Refinement), Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum (aka 15-minute stand-up meeting), the Sprint Review Meeting, and the Sprint Retrospective Meeting.
