From Observation to Action: How the EDUC Youth Integration Lab Inspired Me
European Digital UniverCity - EDUC
An alliance of 8 European universities striving to create an international community.
The EDUC Youth Integration Lab aims to develop our critical thinking and transform us into active citizens in the face of contemporary challenges. This event, held from 16 to 18 October at the University of Potsdam, provided a unique opportunity to explore urban transformation through city walks, inspiring lectures, and scientific events.
This event was a real opportunity to broaden my knowledge while contributing to a dialogue on contemporary issues.
Engaging in open discussions with students and experts from diverse backgrounds enriched my learning and thinking. The dynamic exchanges allowed me to share my experiences and gain new perspectives, making the discussions more constructive and impactful.
The richness of intercultural exchanges was one of the most striking aspects of this experience.
Exploring Potsdam and Berlin through city walks sharpened my critical thinking and sense of observation. Witnessing urban transformation firsthand deepened my understanding of how cities evolve.
One particularly fascinating discussion focused on the role of subcultures in shaping urban spaces.
Subcultures play a crucial role in influencing public spaces and revitalising neighbourhoods.
These movements enrich urban life, foster a sense of belonging, and drive positive social change. Understanding their impact gave me new tools to engage in democratic life and combat discrimination.

These gatherings provide a platform for participants to explore societal challenges through the "Science with and for Society" (SAPS) approach, while also facilitating collaboration between researchers and organizations working in fields of public interest.
