From a new school year to a novel one

I was thinking about writing an article for the new school year. Then it struck me that there are creativity definitions that use the word novel. For example, the process of developing a novel and useful product. I wondered why do they use the word novel, instead of new. A quick look into the Merriam Webster dictionary taught me that novel implies not only new, but also original in concept and style. So, my wish for us for the upcoming school year, is that it is novel. For that to happen, we need not only AI literacy, skill sets, and so forth, we need a fresh educational concept, such that celebrates children's unique innate creativity skills: visulalizing the future, imagination, contextualizing (Remember your 5 year old coming up with great insights?), connecting dots (Yes, the 5 year old - making peculiar mediations between things, an ability that Albert Einstein leveraged), asking questions, thinking together with movement and sound, finding humor in unexpected things, and the list goes on...

So, if students have been underestimated in class for being curious, entrepreneurial, insightful and original, let's give them a chance!

I was honored to facilitate a summer Creativity in the Classroom workshop with Achievement Heights Academy and STUDIO 's bright, creative and professional teachers, led by the insightful and wise Dr. Velazquez. The creativity skills I mentioned before became part of their tool-kit, gaining creative self-efficacy, to elevate teaching-learning processes for children's and teachers' well-being and success.

You are most welcome to listen to me interviewed by Dr. Rachelle Dene Poth for the ThriveinEdu podcast . It was a pleasure to converse, share about how my strategy and books developed, and about my upcoming libraries on Aman Sahota 's Factors' platform - offering personalized learning activities and PD.

I am being interviewed today for the Bulldog Educator podcast by Kirsten Wilson . Looking forward to sharing it with you on September 26th.

For a caring and inspiring deep dive into creativity, excellence and innovation education, you are most welcome to check out ICIE's conference . I shall participate online and present virtually the session: Weaving a Caring Learning Environment, Creativity Competencies, and Trans-disciplinarity Toward a Common Language for Creativity and innovation Education. Welcome to join.

Most invited to read my new article on the Human Intelligence Movement 's webiste: AI+HI=CI (Artificial Intelligence + Human Intelligence = Creative Intelligence) !

With the wishes for a novel school year, I wish I will finish the novel I've been writing: Beauty of the Womanality this year. It is meant to make creativity education understood and widespread. Will tell you more about it in this year's articles. I would like to write an article about advocacy soon, giving teachers tools to advocate for the creative aspects of their teaching, and about the role of principals in inspiring interpersonal communication that supports teachers' creative educational practices. For now, you are most welcome to contact me regarding an inspiring two hours transformational teachers' workshop to ignite the novel school year, and for a one time consultation to outline a educator's personal PD path toward creativity in the classroom.

With wishes for great and humble novelties, that give life meaning and joy,

Michelle Korenfeld
