From Napkin to NASDAQ – Why Simplicity Wins

From Napkin to NASDAQ – Why Simplicity Wins

Every big idea starts somewhere small. For me, it’s often on a napkin. You’ve probably had one of those moments yourself—scribbling a vision, a strategy, or just the first spark of something bigger.

But here’s the thing no one talks about: The right system doesn’t come from one brilliant idea—it comes from a thousand wrong ones.

The S.I.M.P.L.E. Operating System (SOS) didn’t arrive fully formed. It came from testing, failing, learning, and growing. It came from trying systems that were too complicated, too rigid, or too slow.

We learned what didn’t work so you don’t have to. Simplicity was the answer all along.

Why Simplicity?

In a world full of complexity, simplicity gives you focus.

The S.I.M.P.L.E. framework came out of hard-won lessons and is built on six key Bricks:

  • S – Strategy: Align where you’re going with the steps that will get you there.
  • I – Innovation: Find the creative levers that push your business forward.
  • M – Mindset: Leadership is about habits. Change those, and you change everything.
  • P – Patterns: Simplify your processes. Efficiency comes from consistency.
  • L – Leverage: Use your most valuable resources—your network, your time, your team—wisely.
  • E – Execution: Make things happen. Measure, adjust, repeat.

SOS isn’t about adding more—it’s about cutting out what doesn’t matter and doubling down on what does.

A Thousand Wrong Turns Lead to One Right One

The leaders I work with—especially executives aged 45-60—know what it feels like to test ideas that don’t work. To hit roadblocks. To pivot.

But here’s the truth: growth doesn’t come from avoiding failure. It comes from learning through failure.

  • We tested systems that created too much friction.
  • We failed when process overshadowed progress.
  • We grew when we stripped things back, kept it simple, and focused on what moved the needle.

That’s how the S.I.M.P.L.E. Operating System was born. Not from theory, but from the trenches.

Transform Before the Transformation

This resonates most with leaders in transition. If you’re:

  • An executive between 45-60 looking to reposition, transform, or rebrand yourself,
  • A business leader overwhelmed by systems that complicate instead of simplify,
  • Someone holding a “napkin idea” that needs clarity and execution to take off…

You already have the tools: your story, your relationships, and your experience. What you need is a system that works.

Why Community Matters

No one builds alone. Humans have always needed community to grow, to share, and to build something bigger than themselves.

Today, we call that relationship capital.

Your network holds opportunities you haven’t yet seen, connections you haven’t yet made, and support you can’t grow without. When we get it right, community isn’t just a support system—it’s a growth engine.

Brick by Brick

Every success story starts with an idea that didn’t quite work. Every transformation starts before the transformation.

At House of Bricks, we believe in building Brick by Brick. We’ve failed, learned, and tested our way to systems that work—starting with scribbles on a napkin and turning them into real, measurable growth.

Keep Building,

Love this perspective on the creative process! It's a reminder that innovation often emerges from a sea of seemingly imperfect ideas. The key is to keep moving forward, making decisions and tweaking as you go.
