If you’d told me five years ago that The Economist, bastion of rationality and evidence-based reporting, would write a glowing article on hypnosis, I’d probably have spit out my coffee. Yet, here we are, and I couldn’t be more thrilled.
Now it’s long, detailed, and hidden behind a paywall, but the header and subheader will give you a pretty good idea:
“Why some doctors are reassessing hypnosis: There is growing evidence that it can help with pain, depression, and more.â€
As someone who has been using hypnosis to help smart clients overcome challenges and grow and transform much faster than they thought possible, this recognition of the evidence-based benefits of hypnosis feels monumental.
I’m doing a little victory dance in my office as we speak.
The Economist article highlights groundbreaking research showing how hypnosis can alleviate pain, reduce anxiety, enhance depression treatments, and even save hospitals money.
A few key points:
- Hypnosis activates key brain regions like the insula and anterior cingulate cortex, helping individuals reprocess pain and control emotional responses.
- Clinical trials show hypnosis can improve symptoms of IBS, reduce sedative and painkiller use during surgery, and amplify the effectiveness of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT).
- France’s 30 university hospitals have used hypnosis for pain management since 2015, and Dutch radiologists use it to comfort patients during breast cancer screenings.
And it gets better.
In my coaching practice, I’ve seen hypnosis help people resolve issues they were struggling with for years in just one or two sessions.
Imagine dissolving anxiety, overcoming unconscious blocks, or finally silencing that racing mind that’s kept you awake for years. And all that in a matter of weeks rather than months.
While every client’s experience is unique, what makes hypnosis so powerful is the potential for rapid transformation in areas that aren’t easily addressed by traditional coaching or therapeutic methods.

Hypnosis works because it taps into the brain’s natural capacity to rewire itself—to literally shift how we experience reality.
You may want to read that again.
Yes, you can rewire your brain and change your reality.
It’s a lot of fun. And, even better: it’s backed by neuroscience.
Hypnosis helps you to literally change your mind.
And no, it is not the mind control some might assume from cartoon caricatures.
It’s a natural, collaborative process that allows you to access and unlock the untapped brilliance and healing power within your own mind.
I’ve helped clients integrate inner conflicts, stop procrastination, overcome addictive behaviour, and even end insomnia. Hypnosis is also a phenomenal tool for embodied goal-setting, helping you to easily align your aspirations with your actions.
