From me to you - 2020 wishes

1) My first wish for you is 8 hours of good sleep. We all know that sufficient sleep helps stress levels and makes us look younger. I am guilty of taking sleep for granted when daily tasks get the best of me. So I wish this year, for you to snooze even on very busy days.
2) My second wish for you is consuming nutritious food. Changing eating habits is hard, what is easy is to say, “I start tomorrow”, but tomorrow never comes. May this be the year you finally fit into your skinny jeans from college. I know I can’t wait to know what that feels like.
3) My third wish for you is gratitude. Being grumpy comes naturally to me and I’m sure the same holds true for some of you. May you feel happy for the little things in life and take a moment every day to thank the universe for all things beautiful. The next time bland food is making your temper rise, think of the people who can’t afford sugar.
4) My fourth wish for you is 25 hours a day. Not having enough time is an excuse I often used to make, but in all honesty, it was just mismanagement with a dash of laziness. What helps me is planning my weeks instead of my days. The gift of time is the greatest gift of all, may this be the year you master the art of time management. It is probably my most valuable learning of all and take my word for it, will change your life forever.
5) My fifth wish for you is mindfulness. Meditation helps clear the mind and improve efficiency. I find it very hard to be consistent with meditation. May you and I find ourselves the focus to surrender to a higher source of power. Apps like insight timer are available for help.
6) My sixth wish for you is patience. Do you feel anxious when food takes longer to be served or an assignment takes longer to perfect than you thought it would? ‘All good things take time’, a truth I often forget. May you find it in you to not beat yourself up about that reward you’ve been waiting for, it will come and is closer than you think. Just have patience and keep your spirits up.
7) My seventh wish for you is courage. Sometimes we let unfairness be a constant in our life. Don’t be scared to do what is right for you. Causing a delay in starting a new chapter in your life just means your rewards come later. I wish you finally take the step you are too scared to take. Leave the boyfriend you think is overbearing or finally start working on that startup idea you have in mind, good things are waiting to happen to you.
8) My eighth wish for you is excellence. Taking a few things at a time and perfecting them is something that came to me in my 30’s. It is a skill that has helped me achieve most of what I have today. So to be better than what you are, I wish for you to strive for excellence in things that matter to you the most.
9) My ninth wish for you is knowledge. It is never too late to learn. Have you ever looked at a child playing a sport and thought, ‘I wish I was doing that at that age.’ Guess what? It is still a perfectly good time to start learning. Such an approach to things has kept me on my feet and made it very difficult for me to get board. I wish the same for you.
10) My tenth, and most important wish for you is to never say die. All my wishes for you may come true if this wish is fulfilled. Life will throw at you, sticks, mud and boulders but a never say die attitude will keep you going. Time stops for no one and neither should you. All scars will heal, and all joyful memories will be cherished. As long as you keep going, the sky's the limit and no one can tell you otherwise.
