From London to Buenos Aires: Media Powerhouse and Pink Floyd’s "Their Mortal Remains" Exhibition

Introduction

Pink Floyd’s ‘Their Mortal Remains exhibition has taken their legacy beyond music, offering a rich visual and auditory experience for fans around the world. For those unfamiliar, Pink Floyd is one of the most iconic rock bands in history, known for their pioneering sound, conceptual albums like The Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall, and their thought-provoking live shows.

Media Powerhouse played a crucial part in shaping the original exhibition in London, delivering audiovisual solutions that brought Pink Floyd’s iconic history to life. As the exhibition moves to Buenos Aires in 2024, our contribution continues to underpin its success, ensuring it remains a powerful experience for new audiences.

A Journey Across the Globe

The Their Mortal Remains exhibition opened at the Victoria and Albert Museum in 2017 to celebrate 50 years of Pink Floyd. Initially planned to end in October, it’s incredible popularity led to an extended run, attracting over 400,000 visitors. Since then, the exhibition has toured several major cities, including Rome, Los Angeles, and Montreal, showcasing over 350 artefacts that reveal the band’s journey through rare memorabilia such as handwritten lyrics, instruments, and stage props.

As the exhibition continues to expand, the technical foundation we helped create remains a key factor in delivering a world-class experience.

As AV Integrator, Media Powerhouse devised and installed all of the audio, video, lighting and interactive displays throughout the exhibition.

Our Technical Role

The technical demands of the exhibition were significant. Pink Floyd’s reputation for combining music with visual effects required precise AV systems to match their creative approach. We provided solutions that supported every aspect of the exhibition:

  • Video Projections: High-definition projections displayed unseen footage of Pink Floyd’s concerts, offering visitors a chance to experience the band’s performances in remarkable detail.
  • Surround Sound: We installed an advanced sound system that allowed visitors to hear Pink Floyd’s music as intended, enhancing the exhibition’s impact.
  • Interactive Displays: Touchscreens enabled visitors to explore rare items, from personal notes to stage designs, giving them a deeper insight into the band’s history.
  • Lighting: Dynamic lighting solutions highlighted key exhibits, creating the right atmosphere and ensuring the visual elements stood out.

Buenos Aires: The Next Chapter

As the exhibition heads to Buenos Aires, the experience remains rooted in the technical excellence established from the beginning. The move to Argentina opens up new opportunities for fans to explore Pink Floyd’s history, while the AV solutions we provided continue to ensure that every element runs smoothly.

Conclusion

At Media Powerhouse, we are proud of our role in supporting the success of Their Mortal Remains. As the exhibition arrives in Buenos Aires, our commitment to delivering high-quality AV solutions remains essential to its global journey. We look forward to seeing how audiences engage with the exhibition as it continues to celebrate the legacy of one of the most influential bands in history.
