Let’s dive in….

Can you think of a more chaotic place than an airport?

Tens of thousands of people coming through the doors by the hour; some departing; some arriving; some on long journeys; others on short internal hops; some staff, some passengers, some just meeting and greeting…

Yet somehow, out of all this chaos, flights take off with all the right people on board and most people arrive safely and happily at their destination!

How can so much apparent order come from so much chaos?

It’s all down to the system - and this is exactly what your business needs if you’re struggling to turn marketing leads into sales.

Let me explain.

From chaos to order

A good marketing strategy essentially produces chaos.

All the noise, buzz, leads, chat, and excitement that comes from effective marketing means that information starts flying everywhere. And unless someone establishes order pretty quickly, it can end up in an almighty mess.

The chaos experienced in marketing can quickly roll over into your business.

Unlike a good airport operator, most business owners don’t have a fool-proof system to turn chaos into order. Without a system to turn the ‘chaos’ of leads into ‘orderly’ sales, things can quickly run away from you and you’ll find yourself spending time on all the wrong things.

The answer? Build an airport in your business. Here’s how…

1. Create your airport

An airport brings order out of chaos. You need a similar system of check-in/security/immigration/boarding etc. to avoid pandemonium in your business.

A well-thought out system will help your business take off with the right people on board!

2. Be the plane

You’re NOT the solution to your client’s problems. That’s right… you’re simply the pathway to the solution.

Nobody wakes up and thinks “I really need a bank manager” or “I could really use a financial planner today”. They think they need a loan or a better wealth plan. Then they call the right person.

Nobody dreams of the plane - it’s just a conduit to reach the destination. They’re dreaming of the hotel, the beach, the sunshine, the drinks in the pool, etc.

Think of your business in the same way. Be the plane that takes the right people to the right destination.

3. Create your own check-in process

To ensure you have the right people on your plane, you need to ask them the right questions.

Think about a check-in desk at an airport. It doesn’t matter who you are or where you’re going, you get asked exactly the same security and ID questions at first. It’s an unwavering system that you need to pass through to get to the next step.

Your lead qualification system is the check-in process you can use to initially ascertain whether people are the right fit for your plane. If they pass this step, you have a marketing qualified lead - but you need to go deeper.

4. Develop a clear and consistent process

You need to further qualify people after check-in; go deeper with your ‘security’ process.  Make sure that you’re not letting people on the plane armed with sharp objects! Scan and search if necessary.

If they get the all-clear, great! It’s on to the next stage for boarding the plane. Again, it doesn’t matter what you do or who you are; the security process remains the same for everyone.

How can you introduce this type of failsafe system into your sales process?

5. Take off with the right people

Your system will ensure that everyone on your plane is the right fit and well-qualified - then you can simply welcome them all on board and take off together.

If you want to turn more leads into sales, get systemised. Too many business owners take a random approach that ends up producing chaos.

An airport teaches us that order produces results - and it’s the same in your business.

Sales won’t happen by accident. They’ll happen by design, with your lead capture, qualification, and sales all working together as part of the same sales and marketing system.

Your system will put you in control and help you turn chaos into order…and leads into sales.
