From killing mice to inspiring lives

Some of you might have known that I’m bringing together some of the successful entrepreneurs and leaders for my upcoming HER Asia Summit on 1 Nov. Many have been asking me why I’m doing this, does it bring good money, why am I so passionate about this? Let me share with you my story & WHY.

More than 10 years back, I was doing stem cell research, killing mice for their embryos to experiment on. However, my expectations about the job were far from reality and I left the life sciences industry to pursue Psychology & Marketing.

Upon graduation, I joined the B2B media industry, for several years, led a team, and trained sales executives. Work was fast-paced with frequent travels, money was good but I was drained. I made a career-defining decision when I was about to get married, plan for my house and start a family. I left my job, consulted for a tech start-up and helped them achieve their first sale. I also pursued my interest in training and started to plan for a family.

One of my courses for the public was The Steps to Starting a New Business. 80% of my attendees were women. I thought they would apply what they learnt to start a business. However, due to their self-limiting beliefs or fear of failure or the multiple excuses they give themselves, they never pursued business. Thus, there isn’t a continuity in the learning process. It just stops there!

That’s why I’ve decided to convene the successful women entrepreneurs and leaders together who believes in inspiring others. The program evolved beyond my expectations and we have Cheryl Wee, Wong Li-Lin, Jenny Tay, Chatri, and many other esteemed speakers now.

Part of the proceeds from HER Asia Summit will be donated to World Vision to empower girls as agents of change in India.

My mission is simple. It is to inspire, educate, and empower other aspiring women entrepreneurs who have families, or will be going through life’s transition.
