From internship to permanent employment
Being able to try something out before you make a choice increases the chances of getting it right. Emilia Diddilié and Holmen Paper have become acquainted with each other through both summer jobs and internship. The positive feeling is mutual, and they have now agreed to keep working together, in the form of a permanent position.?
“Getting a permanent position was my goal all along. Feeling secure, taking the next step in life and standing on my own two feet. That feels really great and I really enjoy my job,” says Emilia Diddilié.
It has been 1.5 years since Emilia did her first day at Braviken paper mill, in a temporary summer job as an electrical and instrument technician. After that summer, she continued her studies at Br?valla Upper Secondary School and shortly after the new term started it was time for four weeks of work experience (APL internship), which she also did at Braviken. In total, Emilia did eight weeks of APL at Holmen Paper during her third year at upper secondary school, in various departments and locations.
“First, I was with the instrument technicians at PM53 and then I was at the energy and environment department. Having worked with maintenance during the summer job, I knew what I wanted to get out of my internship and could choose according to my interests,” says Emilia.

Better than expected
After graduation in 2022, Emilia hoped to get another summer job at Braviken, as an electrical and instrument technician. The decision she received was more than positive; not only was she welcome to do a temporary summer job, but she was also asked to be part of a recruitment process for a possible trial period of employment. After just one week off after school, Emilia began her journey towards getting a permanent job.
“It really couldn’t have been any better. I got a trial period of employment instead of a summer job and since then everything has gone brilliantly. I learn a lot every day, I get to hang out with experienced colleagues and I’m getting more and more confident at my job. I still have a little way to go until I can work completely independently, but it’s great to be developing all the time,” says Emilia.
Starting to build the future
In December, the trial employment was converted into a permanent position. This was pleasing for both Holmen and Emilia, who got her first flat and moved away from home at the same time the contract was finalised.
“Now I can dare to start building my future. Being able to ‘try out’ one another like this is very good for both the company and me, as then one knows what one is getting. It’s reassuring for me to know that my employer knows who I am and what I can do, and I assume it is equally appreciated by Holmen to know exactly who they are employing. It’s not a given in advance that both parties will be a good fit, but we most definitely are,” Emilia Diddilié smiles.
