From Idea To Impact In Neurodiversity Employment
Potentia Workforce
We connect leading organizations to the benefits of Neurodiversity through innovative Workforce Programs and Projects.
Greetings from Texas!?
If you’ve seen the news recently, you know that the Houston area has had more than its share of storms.? Happy to say we’ve again made it through with limited disruption.? For those who have not been as fortunate, our hearts go out to you, and we pray for some well-deserved relief.?
?The neurodiversity movement has not been without its share of storms either, as companies look to leverage new talent pools, and the ND community still suffers from record unemployment and underemployment.? A couple thought come to mind:?
First, this underscores just how much work is yet to be done.? Too many individuals are still relegated to the sidelines and too many businesses are still operating at a deficit – missing out on a huge and talented ND population and the strengths they bring.
Second, neurodiversity is not a fad.? While we are encouraged to see the great progress many employers are making, the underlying dynamics persist.? There are still millions of highly capable individuals in the US alone, who are not living to their fullest because they lack the opportunities so many of us have enjoyed.? There are still tens of thousands of businesses operating at a competitive disadvantage as they miss this population or, at minimum, are not leveraging fully the many gifts and strengths ND workers bring.?
Lastly, we at Potentia want to express our sincere gratitude.? While more must be done, the progress we have seen over the last five years is monumental.? Every day, we talk to business leaders who have seen their organizations and cultures transformed by making a few adjustments to “business as usual.”? While the benefits of such action are enormous, both for businesses and community, stepping out and making change is not always easy.? For those pioneers who are leading the way, you are making the world of work a better, more welcoming and more effective place for people like my son Charlie and millions of others.? For this, we honor you and are in your debt.?
Onward!?
