From Ice-mobility to e-Mobility: A Comprehensive Exploration of India's Electric Vehicle Revolution
India is on the verge of securing its position as the world's fastest-growing major economy in 2023, as the world seeks to diversify its supply chains. An influx of investments is expected to ignite substantial growth in various sectors, including 'Make In India' manufacturing, banking support, consumer spending and adoption of new technology solutions.
One of India's notable recent achievements is its presidency of the G20 Summit, where leaders from the world's 20 largest economies gathered to discuss the theme of "Building a Resilient Global Economy." This momentous event is set to play a pivotal role in reshaping the global order in the coming decades, marking a significant milestone in India's journey giving springboard to its global positioning.
As these advancements unfold, the Indian government faces the formidable challenge of ensuring that progress is not only environmentally responsible but also sustainable and inclusive. Their goal of revolutionizing India's transportation sector by promoting electric mobility, with a specific focus on reducing both noise and air pollution, aims to? set a global benchmark.
Achieving this goal necessitates collaboration with the private sector and actively engaging them in the government's vision to integrate electric vehicles into the mainstream and garner public acceptance for them.
Since the inception of the electric vehicle movement in the Indian market, GLIDA (formerly known as Fortum Charge & Drive India) has been at the forefront, pioneering the evolution of eMobility through consistent efforts and strategic initiatives. We bring Nordic expertise, resources, and knowledge to the table, enabling us to develop a robust public EV charging infrastructure, enhance charging speeds and technologies, and elevate the user experience through advanced charging solutions tailored to the evolving needs of the public electric car users. Our leadership envisions leading the public EV charging market in India by providing the same convenience and cost-effectiveness as home charging, meeting the fast-charging needs of every other PEV user at GLIDA charging stations.?
At GLIDA, we firmly believe that sharing knowledge is the most effective way to build a resilient EV ecosystem, deepen the context of the electric mobility movement, foster awareness among customers, and establish it into the mainstream. We have taken it upon ourselves to share everything we know not just with Indian stakeholders but also with the global audiences and key decision-makers to enhance the grasp of the EV landscape.?
It seems like just yesterday when our Executive Director, Awadhesh Kumar Jha, was honoured with invitations to serve as a distinguished speaker at both the Africa Energy Forum 2022 in Belgium and the Nordic EV Summit 2023 in Oslo to shine the spotlight on the India EV story. At these events, he had the opportunity to address a keen audience of global leaders who had assembled to exchange insights and engage in discussions about the worldwide progress of the electric vehicle movement. The goal was to draw inspiration from best practices and propel the movement forward by replicating them widely.
On this occasion, he received an invitation to provide a comprehensive overview of India's journey in the realm of eMobility, highlighting our pivotal lessons and offering insights into the anticipated developments in the near future. The objective was to evaluate the prospects for India to establish itself as a global hub for electric vehicle market. This particular business delegation was under the leadership of the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, who had come to India with the purpose of strengthening close B2B connections along with the strong business delegation. The event also saw the presence of other prominent industry speakers.
