From Huddle to Hackathon: Indoor Maps Change the Game

From Huddle to Hackathon: Indoor Maps Change the Game

Hey everyone! Welcome back to Mappedin Minute. ??

It's been a great start to the year so far. We launched some big ticket maps for customers, let students hack their way to create some unique projects, and revamped how you can easily find more resources on our site. We've also managed to help inspectors escape log cabins (read more below).

First things first, did you hear about this?

That's right. We agree that everyone needs indoor mapping everywhere to help us find our way inside malls, schools, stadiums, offices, and airports. We're working with businesses and organizations to scale up how indoor maps are created, integrated, experienced, and used on our platform.

??? We get fans into the game

We caught the #BigGame. We're pretty sure you watched it too. Whichever team you were cheering for, we hope you were able to do so with a big plate of nachos, some wings, and refreshments. If you were one of the lucky ones (compared to us mere mortals) to attend the game in person, we hope you were able to experience indoor maps to help you get around the venue!

Go sports team!

For stadiums thinking about integrating indoor maps, it's all about improving the fan experience. Help fans get an overview with an interactive 3D map, search for their favorite vendor, and get turn-by-turn walking directions from tailgating to their seats. Learn more about our stadium solution or watch our recent webinar.

?? Indoor maps: the real MVP

Like a team of athletes with different skill sets, indoor mapping utilizes a combination of technologies to navigate complex indoor spaces. But, let's talk about the game plan. How are we going to achieve our mission to make it easy for everyone to make useful indoor maps? By building a mapping platform that takes us to the next level. As we scale our AI map tools, SDK, and grow through partnerships and integrations, we're winning big. Make sure to follow our channels and updates as something exciting is around the corner.

??? Students build impressive maps

Mappedin had the honor of sponsoring nwHacks 2024, Western Canada's largest hackathon, at the University of British Columbia. 743 participants and 176 projects later, we had several groups hack together some impressive projects using our mapping tools and SDK.

Congrats to the first-place team: BookTrail! In less than 24 hours, this group of student hackers built a library assistant application designed to transform the experience of finding books in libraries. The team built the app using a combination of Tailwind, Next.js, Node.js, Auth0, Open Library, MongoDB, and Mappedin SDK. It features a user-friendly, mobile-first design that allows readers to search for books, get overviews, and find the exact location of the book on the shelves.

?? Mappedin can help you escape log cabins

Our Integration Team's favorite stick-figure comics site, xkcd, posted this log cabin floor plan recently and on Instagram said: "I’m sure the building inspectors will approve my design once they finally manage to escape."

Luckily for the building inspectors, the Mappedin team has the perfect tool to help them escape (most) rooms. Using our AI mapping features, we created a fully interactive 3D map of the log cabin floor plan, complete with wayfinding paths that help you navigate from even the tiniest room. Best of all, map editing is collaborative and maps can be shared with others. Building inspectors: 1, log cabins: 0.

You can sign up for free to start using our AI-powered editing tools to create a map of your own space.

Building inspectors can thank us later.

?? Wait, you have a Resources Hub?

We do! Our new Resources Hub consolidates all of our content about indoor mapping technology and musings in one place — including blog articles, webinars, case studies, and company news. Enjoy fewer clicks to get more content. Try out the search, it's lightning quick.

?? And... we're hiring!

Check out our open roles and apply to join us and our mission to create useful maps everywhere:

Thanks for catching up in about a minute! See you next month. :)
