Legacy is more than a name—it’s the stories, values, and history passed from one generation to the next. Reflecting on my own heritage, I’ve realized the best way to honor and preserve a legacy is to hear it directly from the horse’s mouth. This saying resonates deeply as I consider the Velazquez lineage — spelled V-E-L-A-Z-Q-U-E-Z — a name steeped in rich history, resilience, and even a connection to the magnificent thoroughbred horse.

The pride in carrying such a legacy is immeasurable, but so too are the challenges. Acceptance—one of the stages of grief—has played a key role in shaping how I approach legacy building. Accepting not only what I know but also what I may never fully uncover has brought both pain and growth, ultimately driving me to live my legacy with purpose.
