Namdar SK began his journey in the transport industry in 1996, driven by circumstances rather than choice. Encouraged by friends already in the sector, he joined as a helper earning a modest Rs. 150 per month. For five long years, Namdar toiled in this role, handling tasks like cooking, cleaning vehicles, washing drivers' clothes, and assisting the main driver. Despite the grueling routine, he remained focused on his ultimate goal: learning how to drive.
By 2000, Namdar’s monthly salary had increased to Rs. 300, and his determination led him to acquire his first driving license through unconventional means. He paid Rs. 300 for a fake license, which allowed him to start driving. Later, when smart licenses became mandatory, he obtained a legitimate one with the help of other drivers, marking a turning point in his career.
Namdar’s personal life is equally inspiring. He is a proud father of three children: a 22-year-old son, a 19-year-old daughter who is married, and a 12-year-old daughter studying in a hostel. Despite the demands of his work, Namdar has always ensured his family’s well-being and education, embodying the spirit of a dedicated provider.
In 2012, Namdar joined our company, and since then, he has become one of our most valued drivers. His daily routine reflects his discipline and commitment: waking up at 4:00 AM, starting his vehicle at 5:00 AM, and covering an impressive 500-600 kilometers each day. Throughout the day, he takes short breaks for meals and rest, ensuring he remains focused and energized for the journey ahead.
A touching aspect of Namdar’s routine is his daily phone call to his wife at 4:00 AM, a ritual he describes as being her “alarm.” This simple yet heartfelt gesture highlights the strength of their bond despite the physical distance. He also calls her at night before sleeping, a habit that keeps their connection alive.
Recently, during one of my daily discussions with our drivers—a practice I’ve adopted to better understand their challenges—Namdar shared how he injured his hand while helping a roadside tyre mechanic. Concerned about his health, we immediately arranged for a doctor’s visit and an X-ray. Thankfully, it was just a swelling, and he recovered quickly. Sharing sweets and conversations during this time brought to light the resilience and camaraderie that defines our team.
