From Grassroots to Glory

From Grassroots to Glory

“Inspire a generation.” That was the rallying cry of London 2012, and what a summer it was. We saw young athletes rise from humble beginnings, driven by passion, dedication, and the unwavering support of their clubs, coaches, and communities. But behind every gold medal, every winning goal, every triumphant lap, there’s a team working tirelessly—365 days a year—making sure our sporting organisations keep running.

Yet, for too many clubs, organisations, and not-for-profits, the financial game is tougher than ever. Funding cycles run every three years, and every pound counts. But what if I told you that some of those hard-fought-for funds were being spent on things you already have?

The Hidden Cost of Overpaying

In sport, we talk about marginal gains—small improvements that add up to game-changing results. The same applies to your technology. Over the past few months, I’ve been speaking to sporting organisations, and one thing keeps coming up—they’re paying for software and services they don’t actually need.

Are you paying for tools that are already included in your Microsoft 365 subscription?

Are you spending thousands on third-party security when Microsoft Defender already has you covered?

Are you paying for project management tools like Trello when Teams does the same job for free?

Are your volunteers using full Microsoft licences when there are cheaper alternatives built just for them?

I recently sat down with two sporting not-for-profits and, just by reviewing their software stack, I will save them both an average of £350 a month. That’s £4,200 a year—money that could be going back into coaching, kit, facilities, or travel for young athletes chasing their dreams.

Making Your Funding Work Harder

Funding should be a launchpad, not a lifeline. Let’s make every pound stretch further, every investment work smarter, and every organisation more secure. Because the real prize isn’t just about saving money—it’s about what you do with it.

What if: That extra £350 a month funds scholarships for underprivileged kids?

Your savings on IT allow you to hire an extra coach or open a new training session?

You could reinvest in better facilities instead of unnecessary software costs?

Let’s Talk Strategy

Like a great coach, my job isn’t just to tell you what to do—it’s to help you get the very best out of what you already have.

Let’s have a 30-minute chat.

I’ll review your setup and tell you exactly how much you could be saving.

Every pound saved is a pound reinvested into the next generation of athletes.
