This was me, 26 years ago, in my first foray into marketing.
It didn’t go great... Targeting wasn’t overly optimised: I handed leaflets directly to consumers in close proximity to the half-priced carpet store, while they shopped.
It did have impact! Almost too much. I tapped one lady on the shoulder to hand her a leaflet and she screamed, which was closely followed by both of her young children bursting into tears.
