From Gloria to Grace: A Soulpreneur's Guide to Finding Your Spiritual Identity

Have you ever considered having a spiritual name? For many traditions, it serves as an invitation to embody your true essence and embrace your soul's purpose.

As an entrepreneur on a spiritual path, adopting a spiritual name can powerfully align your personal and professional journey.

What is a Spiritual Name?

A spiritual name is one bestowed by a teacher or mentor to signify a new phase of growth. It's meant to enrich your sense of self and become a marker of your authentic identity.

In Kundalini Yoga, for instance, a spiritual name represents your "designated destiny" on Earth. The vibration and numerology behind the name are believed to influence your life's flow of energy.

Embracing Your Spiritual Identity

Many well-known figures have embraced spiritual names, marking pivotal moments in their lives. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s father adopted the name "Martin Luther" after the Protestant leader, foreshadowing his son's own world-changing impact.

Siddhartha Gautama became known as Buddha, while Agnes chose the name Mother Teresa upon entering the sisterhood – both embodying their spiritual callings through their new identities.

My Personal Journey

For years, I simply went by my birth name, Gloria. But as I deepened my spiritual path, I felt drawn to embrace the middle name my mother gave me – Grace.

While writing my book, I realized Grace perfectly captured the essence I wanted to embody. So I adopted "Gloria Grace" as my professional identity, a bridge between my past and future selves.

More recently, a spiritual guide suggested I go by "Grace" alone, as Gloria represented my past while Grace signified my future path. Although resistant at first, I've begun introducing myself as Grace, finding the name naturally flows.

To honor both aspects of my identity, I've compromised by putting "Grace" in quotes on platforms like LinkedIn and YouTube. This way, I can embody the spiritual essence of Grace while still being recognized as Gloria Grace.

Choosing Your Spiritual Name

If you feel called to adopt a spiritual name, spend time in introspection. Ask your higher self if there's a name that could serve you on this phase of your journey. Be patient, as the right name may not reveal itself immediately.

You could also consult a shaman or spiritual guide to help uncover a name aligned with your soul's purpose. Ultimately, be curious and open to how a spiritual name can help you fully step into your role.

Of course, you may feel your birth name already captures your essence perfectly. If so, explore its meaning – you may find your parents intuitively chose wisely, guided by your soul's blueprint.

Whether adopting a new name or embracing the one you were given, allow it to be a powerful facet of your personal brand. A spiritual name can profoundly impact how you show up in life and business when fully embodied.
