With the change of seasons, my husband and I felt drawn to do a deep cleanse. We wanted to clear out the old and make space for the new.
Last week we decided to do a deep Ayurvedic detox using an incredible recipe from Suyogi Gessner that she shared on the latest episode of Don't Step on the Bluebells!
While spending a weekend eating nothing but soup and smoothies may not seem very sexy, it ended up being an incredibly powerful and healing experience. We had detoxed before using Ayurvedic methods and found it to be challenging yet cleansing.
In this particular detox we could eat as many greens as we wanted, and even in indulge in some sumptuous fruit, but the crown jewel was the “Magic Mung Soup” as Suyogi calls it. The "Magic Mung Soup" contains mung beans, veggie broth, nourishing spices like asafoetida, and antioxidant-packed vegetables. Between the anti-inflammatory properties and the way it clears out your system, it left us feeling on the edge of our seats!
As someone who loves indulging in delicious foods, the thought of limiting my diet to this single soup multiple times a day seemed daunting. Not to mention the onslaught of toxins leaving my body.
On day one the most notable shift was the lack-of-caffeine headache that hit around midday – an addiction I didn’t realize I had. Later on still came the emotional side, frustration, anger, even sadness. By day two my skin was breaking out and I was finding and feeling body pain I also hadn’t known was there. My mind was foggy, I couldn’t think clearly and had no energy to do anything. I felt lethargic. By day 3 the headache was gone, but and the fog lifted slightly in the morning… but the emotions kept coming.
A detox isn’t just a physical experience, after all, it hits all of our bodies – including emotional, mental, and spiritual. It’s a true cleanse, clearing out the old toxins that have been stuck or stagnant within us – emotionally AND physically – and clearing the way for something new to come through.
Despite what sounds like a pretty terrible weekend, I feel truly cleansed and awake on the other side of it. By the end, I felt amazing - clear-headed, energized, mentally focused. I could tell it really reset my gut health. And it was powerful emotionally too, helping me release old stagnant energy and patterns. Even our home felt like it shifted energetically.

While this specific detox may not suit everyone right now, I highly recommend exploring what in your life could use a good cleanse this seasonal change. Start small by cutting out inflammatory foods or overindulgences, and work up to a full mind-body reset when the time feels right.
Listen to Suyogi share more insight about the 3-day (and 28-day) detox in the latest episode - then go ahead and download your detox guide here. Wishing you clarity this coming season.
With love,
Amanda
