From fight like a girl to work like a girl

The other day I saw an ad where they asked both young boys and girls about what it meant to do things like a girl and they described it as something to be ashamed of and a symbol of being weak.

Today being international womens day I think it′s time to speak about women in the workplace and the importance that they have, there are nearly a 55% of workers that are women, 6% are CEOs and 20% that are senior managers. This show an evolution in the world of work and a step towards gender equality.

What do women bring to the workplace?

• Increased job satisfaction, as they have high levels of empathy and active listening skills
• Dedication to the company, as they tend to stay for longer within the company
• Meaningful work, as they search for dedication and a calling
• Decreased burnout, as they contribute to the company's health and wellbeing politics.

And the ultimate question is not what do women bring to the workplace which is very important but what do women want at work?

• Women want a calling, a purpose that boosts them in their everyday life.
• Women want flexibility, to be able to have work life-balance and focus time on family, friends and hobbies.
• Women want real leadership opportunities and a career progression, which allows them to grow and develop within a company.

In conclusion, women in the workplace are gaining importance as everyday they are assuming middle management and executive roles and are revolutionising the world of work by introducing new ways of thinking and the need for new policies and procedures within companies.
