From Fear to Success: How I Used Online Learning to Achieve My Goals | Virender Singh | Biopatrika

Education is not limited to the four walls of a classroom, and the story of my journey is a testament to that fact. In September 2010, I left my job at Biocon and was planning to go abroad, but my fear of the English language and vocabulary made me rethink my plan to appear for the GRE. ????

Instead, I decided to prepare for the GATE exam , which was almost two months away, with no books or starting point. But I was determined to succeed. So, I searched for free books online and downloaded hundreds for each part of the syllabus. ????

But I was not heading anywhere, and it was almost the end of December. At that point, I came across free OpenCourseWare by MIT , Harvard , Stanford , and NPTEL . With the help of these courses, I adjusted my schedule for the next two months, almost isolated myself from the rest of the world, and started watching lectures during the night and sleeping during the day. It was one of the best learning experiences, getting taught by eminent professors virtually. I?could make notes and follow up with reading from downloaded PDF books. ?? ??????

By the end of February, I gained little confidence and appeared for the GATE exam in March, and the exam went well. I qualified and got ranked 254, which allowed me to appear for interviews at a few IITs. I also filled out the form for CSIR NET-JRF but never prepared for it. ????

Never give up on your dreams. If you want to learn something, find a way to make it happen. There are no excuses.

Just a week before the exam date, I decided to appear for the exam and again looked at the syllabus. I noticed a change in the exam pattern and appeared for the exam and tactically answered. It was fun, and in the end, I secured All India ranked 24 in Life Sciences and qualified for Lectureship in India. ????

So, if you think education is only limited to a classroom, think again. With determination and the right resources, you can achieve anything you want. Don't let fear or lack of resources hold you back. • Watch educational videos. Educational videos can be a great way to learn new information in a short amount of time. You can find educational videos on various topics on YouTube and other video-sharing websites.??
• Take online quizzes and tests. Online quizzes and tests can be a great way to assess your knowledge and identify improvement areas. Many free online quizzes and tests are available on various topics.??

The most important thing is to keep learning. No matter how old you are, there is always something new to learn. So keep your mind open and never stop exploring.

Again, education is a lifelong journey. It doesn't end when you graduate from school or college. There are many ways to learn outside of the classroom.
