It can be extremely uncomfortable, and it’s 99.9% required every time.? Interviewing is needed to land that next great role you seek, yet many put it in the same category as a root canal or public speaking.??
Let’s delve into the art of mastering interviews. Just as public speaking can be daunting, facing interviews can stir up a whirlwind of emotions. Henry DeVries shared the wisdom of the late Jamie Sussel Turner in a recent post that we’ll apply to interviews.? Jamie was renowned for her insights on overcoming fears and they are powerful to use with interviews.?
Interview jitters often stem from a clash with our beliefs. Turner emphasized the pivotal role beliefs play in shaping our behavior. Imagine flipping the script on these five common stress-inducing beliefs that sabotage your interview confidence:
It's All About Me: Shift your focus from self-doubt to connection with the interviewer. Envision the spotlight illuminating the value you bring to the table.
My Future Hangs on This Interview: Embrace each interview as a stepping stone, not a make-or-break moment. Learn and grow from each experience.
I Must Ace Every Question: Release the grip of perfectionism. Authenticity resonates far more than scripted perfection.
Fear of Judgment: Accept that judgments are inevitable but not defining. Stay true to yourself; you are your greatest asset.
Imposter Syndrome: Recognize your unique expertise. You're not just qualified; you're invaluable.

Now, how do we dismantle these entrenched fears? Practice, practice, practice.
Challenge your beliefs before each interview. Speak them aloud with conviction:
"I bring value to every interaction. Each interview is a growth opportunity. Authenticity trumps perfection. I accept judgments as part of the process. My expertise and brand is unmatched."
Imagine the impact of conquering these fears. What doors could open for your career?
Let's embark on this journey together, transforming fears into job offers.

7 个月CHRISTINE (Executive Career Coach) KIDDER GRAVES this is so helpful to anyone who is interviewing for a new position. I do know of someone who didn't get the job because they said "ah" and "um" to much that the supervisor thought they would be difficult to work with, even though they were highly skilled. They might have been nervous. Any thoughts about this?
