Helping you make better LinkedIn Videos (check banner) | Podcast host @ ex-vicarious
Hey, quick note… this is the 1st installment of my new series on LinkedIn Video!?
I was stuck on 2k weekly impressions for months until I changed my video style. Shortly afterward, I woke up (shocked) to over 1 million weekly impressions and decided to interview experts in the LinkedIn Video space.
They’ll still be founders and creators who’ve taken unconventional actions to achieve unconventional dreams, but these will be 15 minute “minisodes”? that jump straight to the juice on all things LinkedIn Video.

What to expect:
Introduction
A farmer living in a yurt is now working amongst the biggest creators on LinkedIn.
Yes, I’m talking about Louis Butterfield .?
Since moving from the country to the city, he’s also been?
??? a voice actor
?? a sales rep for the world’s largest “retreats” marketplace, &
?? the co-founder of @Awesome Business Videos?
A few months ago, Louis and his partner Jenna Sipponen were making “comedic sketches on LinkedIn, just being themselves” before their “building in public” video blew up.
He then created a lead magnet that broke down the 150+ LinkedIn Videos that Lara Acosta has made. She loved it so much that she hopped on a call with Louis right after.
Louis’ clip of their interview reached hundreds of thousands, and opened the door for him to interview other LinkedIn leaders including Niall Ratcliffe and Jasmin Ali? .
It also changed how I personally thought about LinkedIn video. Louis’ authenticity showed me that…
→ You can be yourself.?
→ You can be less serious.?
→ You can grab attention with TikTok strategies, long as you're providing genuine value.
I haven’t seen anyone provide as much value as Louis has in just several weeks of building in public.
So what can you do right now? Put that value to good use by watching the 15-minute pod, or catch the quick Q&A below.
Q&A
How did you interview Lara Acosta?
“I made this lead magnet around Lara Acosta, basically breaking down all of her videos. Every single one she had posted on LinkedIn up until that point (about 150 videos) and broke down her strategy, psychology, hooks, gear she uses, tips, and tricks I learned along the way. I put it all into this lead magnet.
I put it out there and then showed it to Lara. I sent her a message saying, "Hey, I broke down all your videos. Thanks for being an inspiration."?
And she replied, "Holy shit, this is awesome. How can I help you?".
I was like, "I don't know. I wasn't expecting anything, but how about a quick call?".
And she said yes.
We got on a call similar to this, and I made some videos out of it — similar to what you'll be doing with this. Those videos kind of blew up. Each time we made something, it got more traction.
So, if you're going to talk about our secret to success on LinkedIn, it's really just about understanding our goals for what we wanted our content to do: grow our account and establish authority.”
So for people who are hating on LinkedIn video, what would you say to them?
“Oh man, it's not for everybody. You know, I've talked with a lot of business owners and founders at this point. Some people are just better with the written word. Some are better with design, and they enjoy making carousels or infographics. I don’t think people should feel pressured into making a certain kind of content if they don’t want to.
Ever.
I believe LinkedIn is pushing video. I think that's where it's going more and more — at least right now. Algorithms change, but as the trend stands, video seems to be taking more of a priority within the LinkedIn sphere. That doesn’t necessarily mean you can't succeed if you don't use video. I think Lara Acosta talks about this a lot, actually. Even though she uses video, she says she personally gets more results from written posts because she can make three written posts in the time it takes to make one video.
So it's not for everyone. If you're hating on it, hey, that's great. I don’t have to try to convince you. That’s not who I want to work with. I don’t want to work with you if you hate video. I’d rather work with people and collaborate with those who know, "Hey, I want to do video. I see the value in this; I just don’t know how to do it."
And so, I don’t mind. Haters be hating. That’s totally fine. That’s cool. We all have our sides to pick, and that’s all good. I don’t care.”
Who are some creators making LinkedIn videos right now that you think everyone should know about?
“ Jim Gonzales - he’s awesome. Just had a great chat with him.
Jai Bedi , he's just crushing it.
Jack Chitty , he's crushing it.
And then Kristy Campbell from Pink Pony Design, totally knocking out of the park with LinkedIn video right now, too.”
