From Exhaustion to Alignment: My Journey as a Projector in Human Design

From Exhaustion to Alignment: My Journey as a Projector in Human Design

A few years ago, I was standing in front of a lecture hall filled with students, doing what I thought I was meant to do. Teaching at a university seemed like the perfect fit—after all, I loved sharing knowledge, guiding others, and watching people grow. But behind the scenes, something felt off.

The large lecture halls, the constant energy output, and the overwhelming size of the audience left me drained. By the time the day was over, I was running on fumes, barely able to muster the energy to eat dinner before collapsing into bed. I chalked it up to the demands of the job and told myself, This is just part of being a teacher.

Still, there was a quiet voice inside me that whispered, Is this really how it’s supposed to feel?

At that time, I didn’t have an answer. So I kept going.

Then, life handed me an unexpected reset button. My family and I spontaneously decided to move to another country. The transition was exhilarating, but it also came with uncertainty. I found myself in a new place, unable to find a job that aligned with my education and experience. It was frustrating, but it forced me to rethink how I wanted to show up in the world.

In this period of change, I stumbled upon an idea: teaching online. I set up virtual classes and started working with smaller groups of students, focusing on more intimate and personalized guidance. To my surprise, it felt completely different.

For the first time, I wasn’t ending my days exhausted. Instead, I felt energized, fulfilled, and excited to do it again the next day. The shift felt so natural, but I didn’t yet understand why.

It wasn’t until a few years later, when I discovered Human Design, that everything fell into place.

I learned that I am a Projector—a type designed to guide, teach, and lead, but in a very specific way. My energy thrives when I work with individuals or small groups, where I can deeply connect and offer tailored guidance. Large audiences and constant energy output? They’re not how I’m wired. No wonder those big lecture halls left me so depleted!

This realization was transformative. It gave me the permission I needed to fully embrace the work that feels natural and aligned with my energy. Today, I channel my Projector gifts into teaching and guiding people in ways that work for me:

  • Self-paced classes that empower learners to grow at their own rhythm.
  • Podcasts where I share Human Design insights in bite-sized, easily digestible episodes.
  • Personal blog articles and an eBook, where I can connect with readers one-on-one through the written word.

These tools allow me to reach and guide others while honoring my own energy and staying aligned with my natural flow.

What I’ve learned along the way is that alignment is everything. When you honor your unique energy, life doesn’t have to feel like a constant uphill battle. Instead, things begin to flow naturally.

Here are the biggest lessons I’ve learned from this journey:

  • Exhaustion isn’t a badge of honor. It’s your body and mind’s way of telling you something isn’t working.
  • There’s no one-size-fits-all path. Sometimes, the unconventional way of doing things is the one that’s truly right for you.
  • Alignment is about ease, not force. When you’re living in alignment with your design, you’ll feel it—because it will feel right.

Today, I guide people to discover their own paths and unlock their unique potential through Human Design. My story reminds me every day that the challenges we face are often the stepping stones to discovering who we really are.

Have you ever felt out of alignment or unsure of the next step in your journey? Are you honoring your energy and working in a way that feels right for you? I’d love to hear your story!

My ex-husband used to tell me all the time that I was no fun because I didn't like to go places that were loud and crowded. I just knew that my senses were easily overloaded. Fast forward a bunch of years, learning I am a projector made so much sense. No wonder I'm not comfortable in crowded places! Learning to do life in a way that feels aligned to me has been such a gift, Viktoria.
