From Exhaustion to Alignment: My Journey as a Projector in Human Design
A few years ago, I was standing in front of a lecture hall filled with students, doing what I thought I was meant to do. Teaching at a university seemed like the perfect fit—after all, I loved sharing knowledge, guiding others, and watching people grow. But behind the scenes, something felt off.
The large lecture halls, the constant energy output, and the overwhelming size of the audience left me drained. By the time the day was over, I was running on fumes, barely able to muster the energy to eat dinner before collapsing into bed. I chalked it up to the demands of the job and told myself, This is just part of being a teacher.
Still, there was a quiet voice inside me that whispered, Is this really how it’s supposed to feel?
At that time, I didn’t have an answer. So I kept going.
Then, life handed me an unexpected reset button. My family and I spontaneously decided to move to another country. The transition was exhilarating, but it also came with uncertainty. I found myself in a new place, unable to find a job that aligned with my education and experience. It was frustrating, but it forced me to rethink how I wanted to show up in the world.
In this period of change, I stumbled upon an idea: teaching online. I set up virtual classes and started working with smaller groups of students, focusing on more intimate and personalized guidance. To my surprise, it felt completely different.
For the first time, I wasn’t ending my days exhausted. Instead, I felt energized, fulfilled, and excited to do it again the next day. The shift felt so natural, but I didn’t yet understand why.
It wasn’t until a few years later, when I discovered Human Design, that everything fell into place.
I learned that I am a Projector—a type designed to guide, teach, and lead, but in a very specific way. My energy thrives when I work with individuals or small groups, where I can deeply connect and offer tailored guidance. Large audiences and constant energy output? They’re not how I’m wired. No wonder those big lecture halls left me so depleted!
