From Early Man to an Urban Man!

I think of this quite often since this topic has a profound effect on the way I look at the world & everything around me. We all know how important it is to pause in a moment & reflect back. Here, I am doing just that with my timeframe going back to the Early Man's period. I have always been fascinated about how humanity has evolved from then to now & what are the key ingredients that brought us where we are. I mean, things could have gone in a totally different direction & we could have been living in a extremely different reality today. Technically, there was no need to change the early man's reality. It was sustainable in itself but what changed everything was Human Curiosity. Our natural instinct to ask questions led us to change things. Thats where we got the word "Problems" from which I am sure every entrepreneur hears 100 times a day from anyone & everyone he/she encounters.
So to start with, whats a problem? A problem is a situation you want to change via an idea that turns into another problem leading to an infinite loop that never ends. The early man walked first, which was a problem because they got tired, so they started to ride animals which was probably limited in its use leading us to the invention of wheel and then wheel-cart and eventually to cars & planes. Then came taxis, now companies like Uber are revolutionising it. With so many taxi apps now, came taxi aggregators like Ixigo. Now the newer problem is too many cars, pollution & changing environment (I hate Delhi for that) but this has got us so many car pooling startups like BlaBlaCar, etc etc.
What's the takeaway:
- I think we are all running in a race without sight of a purpose as to why we are doing what we are doing. Most startups are about getting funded/an exit/getting more funded without a clear strong purpose defining its goal. Its important that we have one because we might think that your startup wouldn't change the face of future but it does. Collectively, we define where we are leading our reality to & before running in a 100 metres race, we need to know the direction the race has got to be in. Mark Zuckerberg is taking us into VR with Oculus while Elon Musk is taking us into Space. This is where I strongly feel that the Indian Ecosystem is extremely lagging behind the Silicon Valley ecosystem since very very few of us are trying to build & promote that shall govern the direction of our future which we build for our generations to come. We need to become equal stakeholders in choosing what our future shall have for us. I only remember a very old video I had seen years ago by someone called Pranav Mistry who actually had a forward thinking with the Sixth Sense Technology.
- Also to all the people who tell me that all problems have been solved & there is no new idea left for them to work upon, you should really think loud & clear. You have no idea what's going on out there & the kind of opportunity you have right now to make an impact (but only if you are willing).
- To the influencers who lead their followers into so many beliefs & fundamentals, it would be great if you can all pause for a second & think, where exactly you are taking them.
So whom am I? Just like transport was a problem, I am trying to change another core human problem existent from the times immemorial. We hear this phrase all the time, social media, social factors, social x y z, engagement via social channels, so on and so forth. What is Social really? The phrase exists because of an innate human need to connect to another human. The evolution of this problem is also rather interesting. First invention was Language (the ability to talk) to another human helping us connect to them. Then came ability to write. But that wasn't enough, how do you communicate to people living far. So we found pigeons (we have all heard the songs :p). Then came post letters. Led us to another smarter solution of Email then SMS & MMS. Then came Orkut then Facebook. Now people use WhatsApp, Tinder, LinkedIn. All to connect in so many ways. So many people I don't know might read this through these channels. Now, for myself & my team, we have a clear idea & purpose as to where we want to lead our future to. We are building it with Twysk. Twysk aims to redefine you Going Out Experience! There is so much power in connecting to people we come across physically day in & day out, only if we could connect. Currently, its left upon chance but we want to make that a habit. There is no true life than with the humans we come face to face with. That's exactly what we want to do with our tool! If it catches your fancy, Stay Tuned! I will talk more about Twysk in my next writeup.
Hope this article was worth your time!
