From Dubai to ForePaaS: journey of a digital marketer in the data world

This is it.

I’m now Director, Digital Marketing (i.e. in charge of Content, SEM, SEO, UX and the rest of it) at ForePaaS, a thriving startup in the Data Analytics space (or rather the “Insight PaaS” space, as we will discover).

This is an utterly exciting mission, for a game-changing organization with a product that hits the market with a perfect timing.

How do I feel about it?

My path to ForePaaS

Moving to ForePaaS was a double quantum leap for me: it meant leaving Dubai for France and leaving the large corporations world for the startup scene. Although France and startups are attractive, I needed serious motivations to jump.

I’m a Digital Marketer by choice, by education and by experience. While I’ll never dare calling myself an expert, I’ll certainly confess that I’m obsessively passionate about it. My 10-year professional journey to ForePaaS brought me from Digital Project Manager (Renault, Paris), to Digital Project Lead (55 Data Agency, London), to Digital Senior Manager (EY, Dubai).

I love every piece of it, I learned from every bit of it.

Why would I change corporations for startups?

Running Digital Marketing for large corporations is exciting: market reach, and therefore stakes, are huge; and when you have resources to match, you are in for a treat. However, so many parameters add to the bottom line, that it can be difficult to assess your own contribution.

While some unfortunate personal event called me to France, I therefore re-assessed my situation: How can I leverage and keep developing my Digital Marketing skills while contributing more effectively to the success of an organization? The response was: join a startup. And lucky enough, the French startup ecosystem was booming and opportunities were aplenty.

But there was more: as a Digital Marketer, I have been witnessing the Big Data and AI revolutions, from the front seat. For all my customers, in recent years, the name of the game switched from 2.0 to mobile to IoT to, eventually, data: data viz, data analytics, predictive algorithms, AI-based decisions, automation.

The ultimate treat for me would then be to run Digital Marketing for a startup in the Data space. And, when I thought I was dreaming awake… came ForePaaS.

So, what is ForePaaS ?

When I met ForePaaS, I was immediately seduced by the vision: the founders had decided that it was time, for the data-driven world, to put an end to the “forever POC era” and move to the “ROI-driven era”. In other words, ForePaaS is about simplifying and industrializing data projects.

So, they developed ForePaaS, the Platform as a Service that makes it super easy (and fast and cost-effective) to develop, test, deploy in production, scale and run data projects, by removing (i.e. automating) all the technical tasks that separate data from their business values. And it works :)

When I met ForePaaS, they had already convinced a good collection of blue-chip customers (Total, Cora, Gaumont Pathé…), had raised a solid round of funding and where gearing up for international expansion. Hard to resist. Then I met the amazing founding team and heard about their ambition. Impossible to resist!

Now, let’s do it !

Now we are full speed ahead, building up the brand, generating leads and helping the sales to meet our ambitious target. I know I am in for a serious challenge, as we aim for nothing less than leadership. But we have the skills, the motivation and the momentum.

And I trust our leaders and I love my job.
