From Destructive to Empowering: Transforming Your Inner Dialogue

From Destructive to Empowering: Transforming Your Inner Dialogue

Have you ever stopped to listen to the whispers of your own thoughts? The journey from destructive self-talk to empowering affirmations is not just transformative—it's revolutionary.

When I embarked on my coaching career, I faced skepticism from many quarters. Critics said I was too young, inexperienced, and even my French accent was viewed as a barrier. Additionally, not having been a manager supposedly disqualified me from coaching executives. Perhaps most disheartening was hearing that, as a woman, leading men would prove challenging...

When I left my permanent consultancy contract in a foreign country—a position any immigrant would fight for—many said, "You are crazy, how can you leave a permanent job?" "It’s a good job with a good salary, in this crisis it’s a bad decision," "be careful, you can’t live off coaching."

That was almost 10 years ago!

Nearly a decade of experiences, supporting men and women, students, low and middle management, and executives, in French, Spanish, and English...

Almost 10 years living the life I designed, not the one others said I could live...

Do you think this would be my story if I had embraced and embodied those destructive thoughts?

And what about you?

What destructive thoughts surround you? How many people support or destroy your ideas?

Why do I share this?

Because thoughts, or rather, words determine our destiny. I am convinced of this and have proven it to myself a thousand times.

No one, absolutely no one can tell you what is possible or impossible for you. No one!

And if someone does tell you, you have two options: accept and believe it's true, or not.

This is where empowering and destructive thoughts emerge. The world is full of both—and so is the collective unconscious.

The blame or credit for your personal and professional growth ultimately isn't in the hands of others… if it were, there would be too many to blame, and we wouldn't achieve any justice.

So, who truly shapes your achievements? It's the individual who consistently chooses empowering over destructive thoughts. The person who confidently declares, 'they are wrong, I am capable'; the one who believes, 'the fact that it hasn’t been done does not mean I can’t do it'; the one who possesses the mental strength to sift through the collective unconscious and retain only what is constructive and uplifting.

How do you treat yourself, and how do you treat your projects and ideas?

How often does "yes, I can" prevail over "this is impossible"?

Do you often speak with frustration and impossibility? Or how many times do you turn things around because "there's always a way"?

How frequently do you ask yourself, 'What steps can I take to make this happen?' rather than resigning with, "It cannot be done".

The quality of your words reflects the quality of your thoughts. It's not very difficult to know what you will achieve and what you will not…

Don't just take my word for it; pay attention to your own self-talk. It will reveal exactly how far you're capable of going.

Tips for a Deliberately Constructive Day:

  1. Observe your words and expressions and write them down. A one-day diary is more than enough to know if you empower or destroy yourself.
  2. Feed your mind daily with possibility, not impossibility. Read about personal development, spirituality, quantum physics, ideas, debates, etc. The news, politics, someone else's life on social media, and celebrity gossip feed limits, paradigms, and false images that hold you back.
  3. Reprogram your mind with empowering affirmations that you can use as anchors throughout the day. For example, I have one that never fails me: “I have all the resources I need for anything, everything I need is revealed to me, it comes at the right time and place.” It’s my mantra, and it can completely change my day. Create your own!
  4. Treat yourself as you would like others to treat you! Talk to yourself as you would to the person you love the most. Practice compassion and gratitude. Remember, you are your constant companion—be kind to yourself!

Well said Jessica. We wont go anywhere for sure if we keep telling ourselves " it wont work..." It takes time and awareness to be able to undo it at last.
